https://lnkd.in/efM4GpGr The Pulsar team enjoyed the delights of Lille, taking advantage of the excellent transport links to (and within) the city. A really attractive city, which was surprisingly easy to get around (particularly on a segway).

Tijuana, Mexico, and San Diego, California, have gained global recognition as the first binational World Design Capital. Home to Aeropuertos GAP’s Tijuana International Airport (TIJ), the world’s first binational airport that’s seamlessly connected to the United States thanks to the Cross Border Xpress (CBX), this isn’t the region’s first foray into cross-border collaboration, and it won’t be the last. San Diego State University’s Mike Freeman reports on how the momentum is driving research and investment in binational urban planning and breathing new life into a 50-year-old blueprint for a binational “zone of confluence” that shares its economy, environment, and cultures. https://brnw.ch/21wJdBS

Starting January 25, Florence’s historic Piazza San Marco is now just 35 minutes from the airport, thanks to the sleek new T2 tramway extension. 🚋👏 This ambitious project by our subsidiary GEST SPA is redefining urban mobility in Florence. The T2 line’s 2.5-kilometer expansion introduces six stops that elegantly bridge modern convenience with the city’s rich history. Running 800 trips a day, the trams arrive every 4.5 minutes during peak hours, offering effortless access to the wonders of Florence. On the same day the T2 extension opened, construction also began on Line 3, which will extend service to Bagno a Ripoli! 🏗️ 🧑🎓 Kudos to the teams who made this happen, including 14 new drivers trained and hired by the fourth edition of the Accademia program. This project would not have been possible without the leadership of Mayor Sara Funaro and Andrea Giorgio, Councilor for Mobility, Transport, and Tramways, whose commitment to sustainable urban development continues to transform Florence. Whether passengers are visiting for business, sightseeing, or just admiring Michelangelo's David at the Galleria dell'Accademia, Florence’s T2 tram is their new gateway to the city. 🚋☕ #Florence #SustainableMobility #Tramway #PublicTransport

In Dutch cities and towns, one of the features that first stands out to international visitors is the use of the continuous cycle path. Rather than treating humans as guests in the car space, the opposite occurs, and the cycle path is seamless by design. https://lnkd.in/esSs3vHg

A flawless urban design. If the respective mode streams don't justify the segregation then the idea comes a cropper. Optimal utilisation of scarce urban space is also sine quo non of sustainability, I suppose.
A perfect embodiment of the directness design principle, the Croix-Rousse Tunnel in Lyon stretches 1,782 meters between the Rhône and Saone Rivers. When opened in 2013, it was one of the world’s first solely for sustainable mobility; with one lane for buses, one for pedestrians, and one for cyclists.
