The first half of 2024 saw poor performance as climate investment fell to 2020 levels, but there were strong plays. 🥇 AI & clean power, high-flying Sustainable Aviation Fuels, and batteries led the charge. 📈 Seed, Series A, and Series average deal size all went up, despite the decline in total deal count. ⚡ So far, it's the “Year of Energy.” More insights from Sightline Climate (CTVC) at https://lnkd.in/dWeawF7F

How can companies turn their decarbonisation efforts into a competitive advantage? In an op-ed for BusinessGreen, I discuss the findings of Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and CO2 AI’s newest carbon emissions study. We found that organisations that are committing to comprehensive climate transition plans, focusing on product-level emissions tracking and leveraging AI are seeing significant financial and operational benefits. Absolute masterpiece by Nat Bullard This document should be read over and over again by anyone interested or invested in climate, energy, transportation… All future decisions are already embedded in those 200 pages.
My annual decarbonization deck is here. I’ve spent several months finalizing the content, after a year collecting data – pretty much since the moment I hit publish on last year’s deck. I have three principal reflections on decarbonization for 2024, and beyond: ⏹ We can think about climate challenges as stocks, and the responses to them as flows. Emissions will fall (or rise) where flows meet stocks. Businesses will grow, or wither, at that same meeting point. ⏹ Some of our decarbonization vectors are thankfully abundant. Others are unfortunately scarce. ⏹ For 2024, I have a few thought experiments on net zero, involving AI, our relationship with food, and our engagement with the land There is a lot here. Everything from ocean heat content, to Amazon deforestation, to actively managed fund composition, to vehicle efficiency, to illumination technology, to GLP-1 agonists, and the land area of US golf courses. A coherent view of the future begins with the clearest possible view of the present. Looking forward to your comments! https://lnkd.in/gtqqvQWA
