📣 We are hiring at Doist! This time, we are looking for a Head of Backend Development who is highly technical and passionate about creating and maintaining high-quality software that powers long-lasting products. 🤩 In this role, you can expect to: - Grow, support, and empower a world-class team of 11 Backend Engineers (including 3 Leads) - Drive the vision, technical strategy, and technical roadmap for the team and its technology stack - Plan and prioritize internal, as well as company-wide initiatives - Contribute to shared values, standards, and processes with your leadership peers 🥰 Why you’ll love working at Doist: - We’re ambitious, mission-driven, and customer-focused (yes, we are) - We prioritize sustainable impact over fleeting trends and hype - We compete successfully against tech giants while staying independent and having fun - We’re truly remote-first (since 2007!), spread across 35+ countries, and actually mean it when we say "40-hour weeks" 🤔 Why you might not: - Managing monolithic Python applications built on a homegrown framework similar to Flask isn’t your thing....and the thought of transitioning away from it gives you nightmares - We don't do manager-only jobs. You'll have to be hands-on - No big budgets to throw at problems...you'll need to be creative and resourceful - Not every process or framework is fully baked. You’ll need to think for yourself and "do what makes sense" If you’re passionate about building and scaling exceptional products, refining how we work, and collaborating with world-class teammates, we’d love to hear from you. Apply by Jan 21st, 2 PM UTC. Not 100% sure you fit? Apply anyway 🙌🏽 ↓ Full details and application in the first comment ↓

🚨 String is looking to hire a front-end or full-stack developer in LatAm! 🚨 👩🔧 Could this be you (or someone you know)!? 👨🔧 Please DM me if you're interested in 👇 1) Building clean, intuitive, and dynamic web apps using NextJS. 2) Get your hands dirty building backend systems to handle scheduling async events. 3) Iterating insanely fast, making quick decisions about how to build stuff, and having your performance based completely on results. You'll be writing code alongside yours truly to ➡ build new features, fix bugs, and improve the overall functionality of String. Additionally, you'll be working on a new full-stack project with me that, like String, brings dramatic automation and workflow efficiencies to a relatively stale industry. ✅ Of course, there are some requirements for this job: ✅ 1) 👨💻 Be willing to have your results evaluated on a daily basis. Don't expect to have a long ramp up period and then have your reviews sugar coated. 👩💻 2) 📜 Be familiar with Javascript, NextJs, MongoDB, Node, and Git such that you can hit the ground running and start building things on your own. 📜 3) 🕰 You must be willing to work similar hours to California *startup* working hours. Roughly 9-5 PT, but usually around 10 hours per working day so more like 9-5 and then 7-9. A 1-4 hour timezone difference is fine. 🕰 4) 🔄 It's a big plus if you've built backends for scheduling async events and sending updates to clients via websockets. 🔄 🎥 If you're interested in learning more please, reach out to me with a video that introduces yourself and includes these things: 🎥 1) Who you are and what you've done. 2) Why you're interested. 3) Walk me through an example of something you've built. If it's an entire app, great! If it's just a feature you worked on for someone else, great! Just make sure to walk me through the code and explain what it's doing and demo how it works. I'm excited to hear from you! If you now anyone who fits this bill, will you please ask them to introduce themself too? Thanks everyone!

Hiring a developer isn’t just about Checking off skills on a resume—it’s about finding the perfect fit for your company’s culture, vision, and tech stack. Start with the basics, but go deeper: Ask them to solve a live coding challenge using the frameworks or languages your team uses (e.g., React for frontend, Ruby on Rails for backend). Focus on their code structure and logic, not just getting the right answer. Do they use clean, readable code? Do they follow best practices like DRY (Don’t Repeat Yourself) and SOLID principles? Real-World Scenarios Present a scenario you’ve faced, like scaling a database or improving API response time. Watch how they approach the problem Do they suggest a scalable and performance-focused solution? Go beyond coding and dive into system architecture: Ask them to design a system or a feature, like a real-time chat app or a recommendation engine. Look for their understanding of databases (SQL vs. NoSQL), load balancing, caching, and microservices. This shows whether they can build systems that can grow with your company. Debugging Challenge Provide a broken code snippet or a buggy API. See how they debug? Version Control Knowledge Ask about their experience with Git/GitHub. How they handle branching strategies (e.g., GitFlow). Communication Skills Technical skills matter, but can they explain their thought process? Ask them to explain a complex project as if they were talking to a non-technical colleague. Problem-Solving Mindset Present a tough, open-ended problem like scaling infrastructure for millions of users. Do they consider security, scalability, and cost? Hiring the right developer is important —don’t rush the process. Need help finding top tech talent? We can help.

🚨 HIRING ALERT: Core JS Developer Needed! 🚨 We are looking for two awesome core JS developers to join our team (react + react native + NestJS). Please don't apply if: - Your error handling strategy is "catch(err) {}" - All your failed requests default to throwing 500s because "the client will figure it out" - You think Redis caching is the solution to all performance problems - You believe logging is useless because "console.log debugging is life" - You think daily group PR reviews are a waste of time because "my code is self-documenting" - Your git branching strategy is pushing directly to main because "branches are complicated" - Your solution to prop drilling is making everything global state because "Redux is life" - You start convincing everyone to shift to go or rust You must apply if you have a love-hate relationship with JavaScript (mostly love) and actually understand why "this" behaves the way it does.
