RSPCA | RESPECT #ForEveryKind AMV BBDO Every kind of animal deserves our kindness. But currently, billions of animals aren’t living the life they deserve. We need every kind of person to take action. Find your kindness on www. rspca. org .uk /foreverykind From cats to dogs, cows to chickens, hedgehogs to lobsters and yes, even snails, every kind of animal should experience a rich emotional life. Animals can feel it all… if we let them. Because sadly, many animals don’t even get to live like animals in the UK right now, living instead in neglectful and unfair conditions. From intensive farming taking place behind closed doors, abusive use of some animals in sport and entertainment, extreme breeding, to the ‘cute’ images of objectified animals that we mindlessly share on social media, we often don’t realise that we are unintentionally funding, fuelling or furthering animals’ suffering. There are cows who are kept indoors 24/7. There’s one billion chickens bred each year for meat, reared in bare, dimly lit and overcrowded conditions. Pigs who’ve only ever seen concrete. Pet rabbits who’ve never seen another rabbit. The list goes on. So, we are shining a light on the joy of animals when they are allowed to really live their best lives, happy and fulfilled, and full of emotions and experiences. We want everyone to rethink their relationship with all animals - and realise that every one of them deserves all our kindness… and R.E.S.P.E.C.T. Whether you’re the kind that donates, volunteers, adopts or buys RSPCA Assured products - we need every kind of kindness to build a better world #ForEveryKind → Discover your type of kind at www .rspca .org .uk /foreverykind → Share the film so others change their relationship to animals for the better. https://lnkd.in/dHVrXX8H

Exciting times ahead, friends! 🌟 PETA has proposed a fresh twist on Easter traditions by suggesting we swap out egg hunts for potato pursuits. The proposal to Jill Biden aims at creating a new eco-friendly and animal-conscious tradition. Imagine the potential of a Spud Sprint taking over the iconic Egg Roll. It’s not just about being innovative; it’s about evolving our festivities in ways that are kinder to our planet and its inhabitants. Could this pave the way for a new Easter custom? It's an intriguing idea that has the power to reshape how we celebrate, ensuring our festivities reflect contemporary values of sustainability and compassion. Let’s open up the floor for discussion. Could you see potatoes becoming the stars of Easter? 🥔💚 #EasterEggRevolution

🧐Did you know Black cowboys were skilled horsemen, expert cattle wranglers, and masters of the open range. While cowboy culture in the United States is typically linked to white men from the western states, black individuals have also played a significant role in this iconic American way of life. Following the Civil War in the late 19th century, many freed slaves found employment as cowboys on cattle ranches spread across the West. Despite encountering discrimination and segregation, these black cowboys made crucial contributions to the frontier's development. These black cowboys demonstrated their proficiency as horsemen, cattle handlers, and open range experts, enduring long hours and harsh conditions in their work. Despite facing prejudice and unequal treatment, they gained recognition for their dedication and hard work in their profession. Cowboy culture in the United States has a longstanding history, with a notable image of individuals thriving in the open range. However, the representation of black individuals within this culture has been underrepresented and disregarded for several years. Even though African American cowboys have played a prominent role throughout history, their contributions have frequently been disregarded or minimized. From the frontier days of the Wild West to contemporary rodeo contests, black cowboys have significantly influenced cowboy culture. Enduring racial discrimination and bias, they have persisted through their love for this way of life. In recent times, initiatives have aimed to highlight the narratives of black cowboys and cowgirls, illuminating their experiences and impact on the cowboy lifestyle. Events like the Bill Pickett Invitational Rodeo pay tribute to the accomplishments of black rodeo performers and acknowledge their position in cowboy history. Presently, black cowboys uphold their place in American cowboy culture, with organizations such as the National Multicultural Western Heritage Museum dedicated to safeguarding and advancing their heritage. By acknowledging the contributions of black cowboys, we salute an essential segment of American history and celebrate the diversity within our nation's cultural legacy. #ChangePolicy

In US history, Black cowboys are a threat to Manifest Destiny. This idea that white Americans were divinely ordained and destined to settle all of North America excludes Black and Brown folks by design. As a 19th century belief, it contributed to the cowboy film aesthetic during the 1920s and 1930s. By aesthetic, I mean the whitewashing and erasure of Black frontier figures in the Wild West. Cowboy films were blockbusters during the 1920s and 1930s. They offered an escape from the Great Depression and offered heroes who were ruggedly individualistic. THE STORIES WE TELL These stories explain how the West was "won", how the Natives (usually painted as villains) were "conquered", and offer ideas about why so-called civilization was necessary in the first place. All of this storytelling is offered from a particular lens that erases Black historical figures and denies their deep rooted ties to breaking horses and establishing agrarian traditions. It also erases how they established agency post-enslavement. One possible example is famous all-American TV show. A historian has been examining if "The Lone Ranger" is in fact a whitewashing of Bass Reeves. Reeves was a formerly enslaved man who became a legendary lawman in the Wild West. He knew the languages of many Indigenous tribes, was a deputy marshal, and arrested more than 3,000 people and killed 14 outlaws. REINSERTING HISTORY There have been 10 notable portrayals of Bass Reeves in film and TV. Previous actors who have portrayed him include Gary Beadle, Colman Domingo, and Adrien Holmes. David Oyelowo's performance in Lawman: Bass Reeves is the most recent. Read more through the links in my comments. #thestorieswetell #thestorieswesell

One of my favorites is "Cheese Tax." If you have a dog, you already know that as soon as you start rustling the plastic bag of any type of cheese, the puppies come running and you have to pay the cheese tax. — Read the rest The post If you have dogs, you must pay the cheese tax appeared first on Boing Boing. - ----------------------------------------------------- Download: Stupid Simple CMS - https://lnkd.in/g4y9XFgR
