My experience at MSD South Africa has been incredibly fulfilling, both professionally and personally. In essence, it is a meaningful work environment where passion, empathy, and growth are prioritized. As I approach my three-month mark at MSD, I’ve taken time to reflect on the experiences on this journey so far. There are a few standout moments and realizations that have deeply resonated with me, 1. A Supportive Team: I’m fortunate to work with people who not only excel in their work but are also incredibly kind and willing to support newcomers. The genuine passion they have for what they do is contagious. I adore that I am surrounded by such a welcoming and encouraging group of colleagues. 2. Patient Stories: After I lost my dad to cancer and my younger brother to other health complications, engaging with patients and patient organizations has been especially moving. Stories of survival and resilience remind me of the life-changing impact our work has on individuals and their families. The innovative strides in medicine bring both hope and comfort, and hearing these survivor stories often leaves me in awe, sometimes even with tears of gratitude. 3. Transparency and Accessibility: I’ve grown accustomed to an open-plan work environment, where leadership is not just visible but accessible. This transparency fosters a sense of collaboration and openness that inspires trust. 4. Learning Opportunities: Every day is a chance to learn something new, and that continuous growth excites me. If you’re not learning, it’s hard to feel like you’re truly living. I am grateful for a culture that prioritizes personal and professional development, and it motivates me to keep pushing my boundaries.

Today is my 13th anniversary at Astellas Pharma. At 36 years old, that’s effectively 1/3rd of my life. A few takeaways - Success in this industry can look wildly different depending on your strengths, but top reps typically fall into one of these categories: Brute Force 💪🏼 - first on the road, last to get home. Creates more opportunities than their peers. Data Sniper 📈 - knows their territory like the back of their hand. Sees opportunities ahead of time and nothing falls through the cracks. Consistently puts themselves in the places with highest potential for outcome Clinician 🥼- Understands and anticipates the needs of HCPs, staff, amd patients. consistently delivers tailored reinforcement and support. This rep becomes an asset to the clinic and is viewed as a partner Charismatic 💁🏻♂️💁🏻♀️ - rapidly gains trust and builds rapport. This rep has great access where others may not and can be more direct when closing for business One thing is very consistent - reps that are driven by improving patient outcomes do very well. Team Building Experience with Neuraxpharm! We often think communication is a piece of cake, but it's actually a lot trickier than it seems. We need to understand that we are all so different, with our own quirks and needs. Neuraxpharm, the company I work for, organized this amazing team-building event. It was such a cool day filled with learning and bonding. We really dug deep into the whole communication thing, talking about how complex it can get in the workplace. Over the years, I've been through tons of training and development stuff, and let me tell you, when you've got teams with people from sales, customer service, finance, and marketing, getting everyone on the same page can be a real challenge sometimes. So, basically, the whole deal was about how the way we see stuff changes how we get along with others. We talked a bunch about being straight-up about what we want and need. Turns out, being honest like that doesn't just make work smoother, it makes us way happier too and helps to connect. It was really enlightening! Special thanks to Barbara Duhm the CEO of Neuraxpharm and Drehm Pharma for being such a heartwarming host. We felt like we were at home with amazing catering, and everything we needed was there.
