We’re introducing a new segment for FIXABLE today - Quick Fixes - where we tackle the work problems of two listeners in under 20 minutes. One listener struggles with how to quit gracefully, and another is challenged by their team’s slow pace. Both issues require a shift in perspective to understand how other people experience us in the workplace. We have some actionable advice to help you do that and more in this week’s episode. Love that moment at 0:19 - intensity that dissipated into laughter. Great insight and wonderful dynamic between you. Thank you Anne Morriss and Frances Frei.
Little's Law for the win....
ohh... I love that you change things up! :) I can't wait to start listening to this one! Thank you for the work you both do! I'm learning SOOOOO much from the pod!
Thank you for the Little’s Law reminder. As I was walking and listening this morning, I was reminded of the caution from Michigan Law’s legal giant John W. Reed. (Sadly, he is no longer with us.) The idea was that if we try to keep up with a burgeoning workload by doing the same things as before, only faster and faster and faster, we fall farther and farther behind and, arguably, produce a less elegant result as well. We are like the person on the dance floor who knows only the old steps. “Waltz a little faster,” says the partner, “they’re playing a tango.” It doesn’t work. https://repository.law.umich.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1013&context=other
We’re excited about the launch of the ‘Quick Fixes’ segment on FIXABLE! It’s a testament to your empathetic and supportive approach that you’re addressing such relatable workplace challenges. The ability to quit gracefully and manage a team’s pace are skills that truly reflect thoughtful and purposeful leadership. Your actionable advice is sure to leave listeners feeling confident and prepared for change, knowing they’re in good hands. Can’t wait to tune in and gain more inspiring insights. Keep up the joyous and encouraging work! 🌟
Hard to say what I’m enjoying most. Is it the TOM refresher which is very helpful as reducing the WIP is also key to personal productivity, or the delightful dynamic between you two? Not sure I’ve seen better (or happier) ppl speak about business problems. When you plan to tackle our flawed healthcare system or caregiving do let me know.
I do love..."it's wildly more effective"
