On this World Environment Day, we are featuring innovative company Modvion from the Wind Industry Modvion is a Swedish company that's changing the game in wind energy. They've developed a revolutionary new tower made from sustainable wood material. Their first tower, called the Wind of Change, stands at an impressive 150 meters tall. It's made from a 105-meter wooden tower and a Vestas V90-2.0MW turbine. This monumental structure was successfully installed at Varberg Energi , marking a big milestone for Modvion. Some Faqs What happens if the tower catches fire? Don't worry, the wooden modules are super dense and hard to ignite. Even if there's a fire nearby, the tower will just char at a predictable rate. How does the tower handle humid conditions? It's coated with a strong polyurea that keeps it watertight. Plus, a dehumidifier keeps the inside of the tower dry and comfy. Is maintenance a hassle? Nope! The tower needs regular inspections, but with fewer bolts to check, it's actually quicker and easier than traditional steel towers. Modvion's innovative tech is a win for the planet, reducing CO2 levels and promoting sustainable energy. With their first successful installation, they're paving the way for a greener future. VEGO Building System by MAH (My Affordable House): High-quality, energy-efficient, and robust building components produced at a rate of 20,000 square feet per hour.
VEGO technology aligns perfectly with the goals of industrialized construction to shape the future of energy efficiency and decarbonization. Here are the ways in which VEGO helps achieve these objectives: 1. Standardization and Mass Production: VEGO’s modular, standardized building components enable high-speed, precise production. This reduces material waste and optimizes resources, contributing to the reduction of carbon footprints throughout the construction lifecycle. 2. Energy Efficiency: VEGO’s construction system focuses on highly insulated, airtight building envelopes, significantly reducing heating and cooling requirements. The steel and foam composite technology used in VEGO panels, combined with automotive-style EPDM sealing systems, ensures minimal air leakage, leading to passive house levels of energy efficiency. 3. Sustainable Materials: VEGO employs steel-based technology, a material that is highly recyclable, contributing to circular economy principles. Additionally, by utilizing rigid closed-cell PU foam, VEGO enhances insulation and longevity, ensuring that buildings remain energy-efficient over time. 4. Renewable Energy Integration: VEGO’s steel roof panels can be equipped with flexible solar films, enabling easy integration of renewable energy systems. This feature allows buildings to produce clean energy, directly contributing to decarbonization efforts. 5. Reduced Construction Time: By producing up to 20,000 square feet of building space per hour, VEGO accelerates construction timelines, which lowers the energy consumption and emissions associated with traditional, slower construction processes. 6. Minimal On-site Pollution: VEGO’s assembly method minimizes on-site construction time, cutting down on pollution, noise, and energy use typically associated with prolonged construction activities. It also eliminates the need for on-site caulking, nailing, and traditional insulation, further reducing environmental impact. In summary, VEGO contributes to sustainable construction by enhancing energy efficiency, reducing carbon emissions, and enabling the mass production of affordable, eco-friendly homes that exceed current environmental standards. These benefits position VEGO as a leader in revolutionizing the built environment toward a more sustainable future.
