Digital twin technology is revolutionizing wind energy, particularly in the monitoring and optimization of wind turbine blades. By creating a virtual replica or "digital twin" of a wind turbine blade, real-time data is collected and analyzed. Sensors on the physical blade transmit information to its digital counterpart, allowing for continuous monitoring of performance, structural integrity, and environmental conditions. This technology enables predictive maintenance, identifying potential issues before they become critical, optimizing energy output, and extending the lifespan of the blades. Digital twins on wind turbine blades enhance efficiency, reduce downtime, and contribute to the overall sustainability of wind energy production. The video showcases the CorPower C4 technology, which is a wave energy converter (WEC) designed for efficient electricity generation from ocean waves. Inspired by the human heart and invented in 2011 by cardiologist Stig Lundbäck, the CorPower WEC is a rotationally symmetrical point absorber, anchored to the seabed by a UMACK pile. This innovative device utilizes WaveSpring technology to adjust its performance based on wave conditions, allowing it to move more in calm seas and less during storms. The WEC's oscillating motion is converted into rotary motion for electricity generation through a cascade gearbox developed at KTH Royal Institute of Technology. The gearbox features a unique design with eight pinion wheels to evenly distribute forces. The shell of the WEC is made from filament-wound glass reinforced plastic with a structural core, and it is constructed using a mobile system for convenient deployment near the intended location. CorPower Ocean is a leading developer in wave energy technology, leveraging four decades of ocean energy research to introduce high-efficiency WECs to the market. Their mission is to enable robust and cost-effective electricity harvesting from ocean waves, contributing to a sustainable future powered by renewable energy sources. #CorPowerOcean #RenewableEnergy #WavePower #mechanical #engineering #rrr

According to the International Energy Agency (IEA) report, nearly half of #photovoltaic generators (PVGs) in 2022 have been installed in residential and commercial sectors. Thus, controlling low-voltage #microgrid with such resources in #islanded operation becomes more critical. Although there are several active power curtailment-based #overvoltage controllers, they lack analytical expressions. To ensure accurate power-sharing of multiple PVGs, those methods rely on the support of other primary/secondary/tertiary schemes. To cover such concerns/issues, I am pleased to share our recent publication, "Analytical Overvoltage and Power-Sharing Control Method for Photovooltaic-based Low-voltage Islanded Microgrids" in the IEEE Access journal. The method exploits the series resistance of the single-diode #pvmodule model to define its voltage shift in terms of overvoltage level. Through real-time simulations, the authors of the Delft University of Technology and Jose de Jesus Chavez Muro have shown that the proposed methodology benefits from fast and accurate overvoltage control and power-sharing, a straightforward and communication-free structure, and scalability features without relying on other microgrid facilities. The paper is now online and accessible through the following link. Enjoy reading 🙂
