🌟 We’re thrilled to share that our first PWS Stronger Together webinar was a great success! 🌟 Helen and Robin teamed up with Prader-Willi Syndrome Association UK and the Foundation for Prader Willi Research UK to explore the world of clinical trials. Here’s what we discussed: 🔍 What are clinical trials? 🤔 Why are they crucial for people with PWS and their families? ✅ Should we participate in one? ⏳ Why do they take so long? And much more... We will be sharing questions from the webinar on our Facebook and Instagram. This is just the beginning! The second webinar is scheduled for September 9th. To register for our next webinar or to watch the recording, visit pwsstrongertogether.co.uk #clinicaltrial #webinar #pws #praderwilliresearch #reseach

Engagement with Patient & Public Networks Webinar Date: 18 June 2024 10.00-13.00 The Centre for Perioperative Care (CPOC) progresses a number of innovative and exciting collaborations with its patient facing partners since its origin in 2019. This webinar is designed to bring together lay and patient representation from both its Board and Advisory Group partners, as well as patient organisations and charities. The aim is to understand better the needs of patient and public engagement from a Perioperative perspective. The webinar will include presentations from speakers investigating the Psychological and Behavioural science backgrounds of patients’ needs and wants, as well as patientvoices Royal College of Anaesthetists RCOA. There will be an opportunity to develop these ideas in breakout groups to produce a consensus statement which CPOC will use to further develop the patient facing perioperative strategy. Considering the increasing waiting times that patients are having to process, while seeing their conditions potentially deteriorate, this is an opportunity to bring like-minded voices together to benefit patient outcomes within the UK. Have a look at HRCI - Health Research Charities Ireland's 2023 annual report! It's really interesting, I promise! It describes all the things we got up to in 2023. If you want to know what the burning issues were in Irish health research in 2023, this is the report to read.
We're excited to share our 2023 Annual Report https://lnkd.in/eEU6W3EH, highlighting a year of impactful health research activities in Ireland. While HRCI has always maintained a focus on Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) in a broad sense, it has become increasingly evident that a specific emphasis on the involvement of charities, such as our member organisations, in research requires additional consideration. In collaboration with the PPI Ignite Network, we created a guide for charity-researcher partnerships, sparking ongoing important discussions. Our Irish Health Research Forum events on research ethics and biobanking drew full attendance and produced valuable recommendations. We also hosted an event on patient registries in partnership with the Cystic Fibrosis Registry of Ireland and developed a guide for establishing and maintaining these registries. In 2023, we partnered with Dr. Nicola Mountford and the HRB to research the HRCI-HRB Joint Funding Scheme, providing key insights into patient-focused research funding. As we crafted our new strategy for 2024-2027, our dedicated team and board worked to ensure it aligns with our members’ needs. We bid farewell to Suzanne McCormack as HRCI Chair and welcome Brian Lynch as the new Chair of our Board. We look forward to continuing our mission together. Thank you to all our partners, members, directors, and staff for your support. Read more in our annual report https://lnkd.in/eEU6W3EH #HealthResearchMatters

As part of our commitment to expand access to quality health care, Helmsley has granted $11.6 million to three health systems in Nevada, bringing life-saving #ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) technology for patients in rural communities suffering from acute cardiac and pulmonary failure. The availability of ECMO provides timely medical support to those experiencing severe respiratory and cardiovascular distress who face additional challenges around physician shortages, lack of equipment, and geographic barriers to emergency treatment. The grants will go to Dignity Health-St. Rose Dominican Siena Hospital, Renown Health Foundation, and University Medical Center of Southern Nevada (UMC), funding physician and staff travel to active extracorporeal life support centers, training equipment, consultation services, and other tools for program expansion across the state. “ECMO can be a game changer for patients with severe heart and lung conditions,” said Walter Panzirer, a Helmsley Trustee. “Without ECMO, hospitals have to transfer patients to other facilities, and those who are too unstable for transport could die before receiving needed care.” Read more here: https://lnkd.in/dSBcE5Eb
