As we develop more homes and communities at Lakeside Estate, one key question guides our work: How do we leave the world better than we found it? Sustainability isn't just a buzzword in real estate; it's a necessity. Our approach to development is centered around ensuring that each home we build positively impacts both the environment and the people who live in it. From integrating eco-friendly building materials to designing homes that are energy-efficient, we are proud to contribute to a greener future. The real estate sector has a critical role to play in reducing carbon footprints and building resilient communities. I believe that as developers, we must lead by example, showing how environmentally conscious design can create long-term benefits for both homeowners and the planet. At Lakeside Estate, we're not just building homes – we're building a future that aligns with the values of sustainability, community, and well-being. #Sustainability #GreenRealEstate #BuildingForTheFuture #EnvironmentalResponsibility #SustainableCommunities #LakesideEstate #GreenLiving #EcoFriendlyHomes

Sustainable Urban Development and Sustainable Cities The idea of sustainable cities sounds promising, with global and local efforts aiming to create communities that thrive through smart urban planning. Many experts from various fields, like social scientists, architects, and environmentalists, are working on research and policies to make cities more sustainable. However, it's hard to tell if we're really making progress towards sustainable cities. While there have been improvements and lots of talk about sustainability, there are still challenges, especially in fast-growing cities where resources are scarce. In some places, rapid urban development projects may not be as sustainable as they seem, despite public and industry praise. Progress in certain areas of knowledge or specific projects doesn't always translate into real changes on the ground. It's tricky to figure out what problems sustainable cities face amidst all this activity. One big challenge is defining what we mean by "progress" in sustainable cities. To understand sustainable cities better, we need to define their principles, values, and importance. The photo outlines the key concepts of a sustainable city, which include things like environmental protection, social equity, and economic prosperity.

What will our homes look like in 25 years’ time? What will they be made out of? Where will they be? Fascinating new research from Janneke van Oorschot of Leiden University reveals that although the Netherlands will need to build 2 million additional homes by 2050, sustainable solutions could ensure we don’t lose our green spaces along the way. As sustainability shapes the future of urban planning, the way we communicate about these changes is really important. Whether it's discussing the materials we use or talking about how we rethink land use, engaging the public in these conversations can build trust and encourage collaboration, ensuring that everyone is informed and works together towards a greener future. https://lnkd.in/efsCyg48 #urbanplanning #sustainablematerials #greenspaces #sustainabledevelopment

A proposal, make #STL the regenerative, sustainble, and AI driven smart city of tomorrow. The perennial argument around the City of St. Louis is that there aresignificant infrastructure, technology and manpower concerns that we simply do not have the budget, resources, or staffing to accomplish. Why not partner with companies to test new technologies in the highest need or most abandoned areas of the city? Why not collaborate with innovative global public infrastructure providers who might offer new insights or solutions to issues like replacing lead pipes, or 100 year old sewers, or crumbling streets? Could we host international design and materials competitions to implement affordable housing concepts, sustainable paving materials, or low-maintenance regenerative street scapes? We cannot expect innovation and entrepreneurship to knock down a closed door to make things happen for us. We need to invite outside solutions to supercharge the ecosystem of civic, social, buiding, and technology innovation based on the assets we have available. https://lnkd.in/gaqwYXQU

In our modern urban landscapes, where concrete often dominates the scenery, a transformative trend is reshaping city planning: the greening of parking lots. This innovative approach isn't just about aesthetics; it attempts to address critical environmental and social issues inherent in urban environments. 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐈𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 Urban centers struggle with air quality, urban heat islands, and biodiversity loss. Parking lots, typically vast expanses of asphalt, contribute significantly to these problems by absorbing and radiating heat, reducing permeable surfaces, and offering little environmental benefit. Introducing greenery into these areas can mitigate these issues effectively and sustainably. 𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐭𝐬 >> Temperature Control: Plants lower surface and air temperatures, combating the urban heat island effect. >> Cleaner Air: Green spaces absorb pollutants and CO2 while releasing oxygen, enhancing urban air quality. >> Water Management: Vegetation improves stormwater absorption, reducing runoff and lowering flood risks. >> Biodiversity: Plants provide habitats for urban wildlife, supporting ecological diversity. >> Mental and Aesthetic Benefits: Green spaces enhance mental well-being and make urban areas more visually appealing. >> Economic Upside: These areas can boost property values and attract businesses by improving the overall attractiveness of the environment. 𝐖𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐫: >> Maintenance: Ongoing care for these green spaces can be costly and labor-intensive. >> Space Constraints: In densely packed cities, balancing green space with necessary parking can be challenging. >> Ecological Considerations: Choosing appropriate, non-invasive plant species is crucial to avoid damaging local ecosystems. 💭 What's your take on turning more urban spaces green? Could this be a new standard for city planning? #innovation #technology #future #management #startups
