🌍 Four Weeks to the #EuropeanElections: Solution 2/5 for better food in Europe!🌍 As the European elections draw near, it's crucial to recognize how much the decisions made in Brussels affect our daily meals. 2/5 This week, foodwatch highlights the importance of accessible and clear food information for healthier choices across Europe. Europe faces a health crisis with rising obesity and diabetes rates. Despite consumers' desire for healthier options, current food labels make it tough to make informed choices. We're calling for mandatory, clear Nutri-Score labeling and urgent updates to the Food Information to Consumers Regulation. 📣This election, your vote can push for transparency and better health standards. Let's ensure our MEPs prioritize our well-being in food policies. Over the past week its been so exciting to see so many health and food policy advocates testifying at a Senate Round table in Washington DC, presenting the truth about the very strong and proven connection between "fake food" and disease to senators and congressional leadership. There is proven research that ultra processed foods promote disease, yet the government allows them to be sold without any warnings. Its very disconcerting, but also very confusing for most of us. Hence, why front of label packaging can be so helpful! One great segment was by Vani Hari, Food Babe, talking about American food companies who are selling safer versions of their products in other countries, while selling US citizens products with ingredients that are heavily regulated or banned abroad. Watch it here https://lnkd.in/eD42-xV5 We all deserve better! Read back labels as knowledge is power! Keep your family healthy! #MarkHyman #VaniHari #CalleyMeans #CaseyMeans #JasonKarp

Food should be affordable and accessible to everyone regardless of their class and living conditions. Access to quality, nutritious, and affordable food is a human right. As we mark the 2024 #worldfoodday, the Nigerian government needs to enact policies and regulations that make quality and nutritious food affordable and accessible to the citizens, especially the poor in the communities. #RightToFood

No one, regardless of class in our society should go hungry. We need to continually and collaboratively make concerted efforts to ensure that everyone has access to quality, nutritious, and affordable food at all times. Nigeria is currently facing a terrible food crisis situation and the government and well meaning Nigerians need to rise to the situation to save the poorest among us who are facing the terrific impact of the situation. Food commodities are no longer affordable for low income households and the marginalized groups who are grappling with the effect of food inflation. Interventions should be designed to reach the hard to reach communities and the those in households where inflation and high cost of living have incapacitated their purchasing power thereby limiting their access to quality food.

Improvement in food governance is one of the most important interventions to provide primary preventive healthcare and ensure food security for the people. With changes in foods supply, food systems, and consumption patters, the centrality of governing foods better cannot be overemphasised. Centre for Governance and Public Accountability (CGPA) is engaging with the institutional arrangements which affect system of food governance in #Pakistan. #PreventNCDs
