Ahead of the 2024-25 football season, #TheLosAngelesTimes has released a feature on the new phase of growth of Paris Saint-Germain under the custodianship of Qatar Sports Investments, entitled: “By ditching its superstars, Paris Saint-Germain aims to achieve something greater”. With PSG fielding its youngest-ever team in history against Le Havre in the first match of Ligue 1 last week (average age 22 years old), PSG’s future is built on youth, collectivity, the very best talent and long-term sustainability. PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaïfi said, “I was asked who will be PSG’s star this year. It’s the team, the collective team. That’s our star, that’s our strategy, that’s our future.” The feature notes that the change in strategy doesn’t signal a change in ambition. Far from it. And what it does mean, however, is spending in a different way to achieve something much greater. See link below:- https://lnkd.in/edngUqyk

BE Media Sports Partner Update: Since 2012, French soccer has been under the commanding influence of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), both on the field and beyond. The era began with PSG's acquisition by the state-backed equity group Qatar Sports Investments (QSI), marking a significant turning point. QSI's substantial financial backing has transformed PSG into record-holders, clinching numerous titles including Ligue 1, Coup de France, Trophée des Champions, and Coupe de la Ligue. With nine of the last 11 Ligue 1 triumphs under their belt and notable performances in European competitions, PSG's ownership, among the wealthiest in soccer, has facilitated the recruitment of global icons such as Neymar, Lionel Messi, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. While this strategy has drawn criticism from rivals, it has undeniably translated into on-field success and substantial commercial gains for the club. GlobalData Sport analysts estimate that PSG’s sponsorship value sits at $309.23million annually, by far the biggest in France and almost six times the nearest competitor, this comes despite having a smaller sponsorship portfolio than two other clubs. #businessenquirer #bemedia #sportsupdate #sportsnews #sportscontent Read the full story at busenq.com

Saudi Arabia's Sporting Influence Grows Amid World Cup Bid With the World Cup set to make a return to the Arab world in 2034, Saudi Arabia stands as the sole bidder to host the prestigious tournament, following Australia's withdrawal from contention. The recent hosting of major sporting spectacles, notably Formula One races and boxing events, has underscored Saudi Arabia's emergence as a prominent destination for global sporting events. Their strategic investments in initiatives like LIV Golf and the Saudi Professional League have disrupted the traditional order in golf and soccer, respectively. The transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo to Al-Nasr Club post the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup final has sparked a surge of high-profile signings, signaling Saudi Arabia's ambitions to elevate its league to a global stature. For Saudi Arabia, securing the rights to host the World Cup represents a significant achievement, akin to Qatar's strategies that have been criticized for allegedly using sports to deflect attention from human rights violations. While the Sports and Rights Alliance, comprising nine global human rights advocates and anti-corruption groups in sports, has urged FIFA to prioritize human rights protection ahead of the 2034 tournament, it remains uncertain whether FIFA will respond to these calls. Assessing the impact of Qatar 2022, tangible progress on the ground appears slower post-event, although developments continue. However, the legacy of the event is more evident in setting a blueprint for other nations in the region to host global sporting extravaganzas. #sportnews #iran #irannews #amird.news
