A year ago, there were over 132,383 restaurants, cafes, and bakeries in Saudi Arabia, a country that covers an area of 2.15 million square kilometers—five times the size of the entire GCC combined. The Kingdom boasts a unique food culture, with diverse offerings across its provinces. Riyadh Province has the highest number of restaurants, cafes, and bakeries, totaling over 33,399 establishments. Following Riyadh, Makkah has over 31,872, and the Eastern Province has 21,499. In contrast, the Northern Borders Region has the fewest, with only 1,601 establishments, followed by the Al Bahah Region with 1,806. In 2024, the number of restaurants in Riyadh increased by 400%, including a 300% rise in upscale venues. Saudi Arabia's emergence as a luxury hub has been significant, as has the growing participation of women in the workforce. Additionally, the preferences of Millennial and Gen Z consumers have diversified the luxury market. 🇺🇿 Overview of the catering market in Uzbekistan In Uzbekistan, 20.3 thousand legal entities operate in the sphere of public catering. In 2023, their turnover amounted to 8.4 trillion soums. According to INFOLine estimates, more than 60% of the catering turnover of the Republic of Uzbekistan falls on Tashkent and the region. At the end of 2023, there were more than 4 thousand restaurants and cafes in Tashkent, of which about 50% were chain projects. According to the database "The largest catering chains of 2024", there are more than 10 international brands, such as KFC and Wendy's, in the country, and Russian chains, which have already become international (Dodo Pizza, Black Star Burger, #Farsh) are actively developing - in the database they account for 12% of the total number of described chains. National projects, such as EVOS, Oqtepa lavash and Bellissimo Pizza, account for more than 40% of the base, the same amount is occupied by regional catering operators. Fast Food accounts for about 45% of all described chains, the second largest chain format is a bakery - 18%, Fast Casual accounts for 11%. In total, the Base presents more than 60 brands of public catering on the territory of Uzbekistan, which own 740 catering facilities. The base includes catering chains with the number of objects in them from 2 pieces, except for the brands developed by diversified restaurant holdings, The Chef Group, SAFIA BAKERY AND CAFE, AB Group and others. The base includes chains of the following formats: Fast food, Fast casual, Bakery, Grab&Go, Pizzeria, Sushi-shop, Coffee house, Casual dining.
