Decision Makers in #Manufacturing Businesses- with and without #installation as scope of deliverables - What are your #Key #Drivers at Cost of Goods sold level ( #COGS) ?? Conventional wisdom considers Gross Margin as factor of Sales , and Cost of goods sold ( COGS ) in totality. This may be fine to some extent in a standard trading business, or service industry where the drivers of COGS are not many . In manufacturing , this can lead to incorrect decisions, as many drivers in COGS can get overlooked. These drivers , are from the #Business and then tracking in #finance. We can debate on too less or too many drivers eternally . Drivers depend upon the business you are into. The manufacturing business needs to have many drivers to manage the financial benchmarks and ensuring financial productivity of a plant and the manufacturing process itself, especially if it involves #installation at the #client #site from the batching plant . The team which is doing the analysis and then influencing the decisions, needs to have the will to go deep dive in these drivers, and find commercial value in it . ( which is always there ) . For a manufacturing business, one can achieve significant #savings and #efficiency at the COGS by doing cost optimization, value substitution of raw materials , product mix and improving the drivers . Such examples are galore. We can bring real cost reduction in COGS in any business , if we believe we can. #Innovation #Cost #optimization #Substitution #Product #mix

Navigating Pricing: Striking the Right Balance for Small Manufacturers In the ever-evolving landscape of small manufacturing, pricing strategy plays a crucial role. The question arises: Can we fine-tune our pricing approach to stay ahead in the market while ensuring profitability? Absolutely, and it's all about finding that sweet spot. By conducting a thorough market analysis, we can understand the competitive landscape and customer preferences. Armed with this knowledge, we can adjust our pricing strategy to remain attractive to customers while maximizing profitability. Moreover, adopting a value-based pricing approach allows us to align prices with the perceived value of our products or services. This enables us to justify premium pricing, capturing higher margins without compromising competitiveness. Innovation also plays a key role. Exploring options like bundled offerings, tiered pricing, and subscription models provides opportunities to enhance value perception and diversify revenue streams. In essence, re-evaluating our pricing strategy is essential for staying agile and competitive in the small manufacturing sector. By striking the right balance between competitiveness and profitability, we can navigate the market dynamics effectively and secure long-term success. #operations #operationalexcellence #growth #msme #pricing #Laygrow
