As I sit down to share a piece of my heart, I'm taken back to my earliest gaming memories—balanced on a mountain of pillows (a bit of a cheat code in real life, if you will), barely tall enough to reach the keyboard. That's right, the gamer girl in that faded photo is me. 🎮✨ Gaming was never just a pastime; it was my gateway to worlds beyond imagination, where every challenge faced and boss defeated taught me resilience, strategy, and the power of persistence. My dad, ever the enabler of dreams, knew that each click was not just a game action but a step towards something bigger. Fast forward to today, and gaming is not just a part of my life—it's a reflection of who I've become. It's about community, creativity, and the relentless pursuit of excellence. It's where I draw my strength, inspiration, and, occasionally, a bit of escapism. In this journey, I've been inspired by the luminaries of the gaming world—people like Arin Goldsmith and Amir Satvat (Umut Ersaraç also has a special place in my heart). Their dedication to fostering a supportive and inclusive gaming community resonates deeply with my own experiences. They are not just influencers; they are beacons of what the gaming industry embodies: innovation, resilience, and inclusivity. To women in gaming and everyone who has ever felt empowered by a controller or keyboard in their hands, let's continue to support and inspire one another. Let's build bridges, shatter stereotypes, and show the world the unifying power of gaming. Here's to us, to the adventures that await, and to the little girl on a pillow fort who believed in the magic of gaming. 🌟 What's your earliest gaming memory, and how has it influenced your life or career? Let's share our stories and celebrate the impact of gaming together. #gaming #gamingindustry #womeningames

Great news, an update can be found here: https://lnkd.in/giCN-4JV ------ Incredibly disappointed that PC Gamer Magazine couldn't name not a *single* Woman on their list of Influential Voices over the past *30 YEARS*. I was in the audience when ROBERTA WILLIAMS was on stage receiving a *Game Icons* award at #TheGameAwards. An icon who began her career *in* #PCgames and invented a whole genre! If true, the complete and utter lack of awareness is beyond me. Forgive the rant y'all but, in this day and age we need to hold these folks accountable and push them beyond their comfort zones. A simple Google search would have answered this question. I would love to get an understanding of the room and the conversations that were had as these list was put together. It shows the need for unconscious #bias training, #diverse teams, and sanity checks. We can celebrate the wins but we also need to acknowledge the losses. In an industry where more women have been affected by layoffs, the alarm has *been* wrung-- time and time again. We're seeing it on stages, at awards shows, in our games, in our teams, and now in our history. The lack of awareness and the weak excuses need to be called out or nothing will change. Stay strong out there, y'all. I see you. I acknowledge you. I notice you. You're not alone. Your work MATTERS. #gamedevelopment #womeningames #gameindustry

Gaming - the social hub for GenZ to build connections! As the digital landscape is evolving, one fascinating trend I've observed is how Gen Z is using games to foster connections. For Gen Z, gaming isn't just a pastime—it's a powerful social platform. Unlike previous generations who may have relied on face-to-face interactions or traditional social media, Gen Z is creating communities and forming friendships through these virtual worlds. So, why does Gen Z connect through gaming? It's simple: games offer a unique blend of interactive entertainment and social engagement. They provide a space where shared experiences are created, team spirit is ignited, and new friendships are built. In a game, everyone starts on an equal playing field and advances ahead through teamwork and collaboration. 🌟 Here are some eye-opening stats: - Over 70% of Gen Z say playing video games helps them stay connected to others (Source: Deloitte insights). - 55% of them have made new friends through online gaming, often forming lasting bonds (Source: Techspot) PS: This photo was taken during a break in a training session, where Gen Zers chose to connect over an online game. #genz #gaming #corporatetrainer #networking #buildconnections #breaktime #teambuilding #friendship #trainingsession #linkedin

As many other industries, the games industry is going through challenging times, but one positive thing to lift a day like this is that more women are joining our industry. We still have a long way to go, but according to the latest Game Developer Index report from Dataspelsbranschen, 44% of new recruits in Sweden were women 2023. Today, we put the spotlight on Ambar Troya, who started a game studio in Ecuador and now lives in Sweden 🇪🇨 🇸🇪 🔶 What is your occupation today? Nowadays, I am a full-time student at Future Games in Karlstad at the Game Artist program. 🔶 How come you chose this career path? In 2012 something that I never imagined happening, happened! I got the opportunity to co-found an indie game studio with eleven passionate and talented people who wanted to make games in my home country, Ecuador. It took us many years of developing, since the games industry is not very strong there. Nonetheless, we launched the first Ecuadorian game, To Leave, which is now available for consoles and PC. After this, I decided to continue with this passion by improving my craft, and now in Sweden where I am surrounded by amazing video game studios and where this dream is possible. 🔶 What do you think is the reason more women chose to work with game development? Personally, I think it is because it is a great medium to create connections not only with friends but family. I have so many fun memories with my sisters thanks to video games. Another reason is that we want to see more representation in games, so we can create other kinds of experiences that are more aligned with us and with a female perspective. 🔶 What will you be doing in five year’s time? In five year’s I see myself being a lead artist with more knowledge of the technical side and helping my peers to pursue their dreams in the gaming industry. Maybe thinking of co-founding a new studio too. #gamedevelopment #videogames #gamedev #gaming #community #accelerator #incubator #värmland #karlstad
