So, there are some things that the 🇬🇧 does rather well: (1) understatement; (2) complaining about the weather; (3) humour; (4) innovation; and (5) upgrading its Main Battle Tank ("MBT"). The MoD has just unveiled the latest Challenger 3 MBT prototypes which will start entering service in significant numbers in 2027. The Challenger 3 has a modular design allowing various components to be replaced/upgraded ... and includes a laser warning system which automatically detects threats and automatically slews the gun to point at the source of the threat, making it quicker for the crew to counter-fire. It also ditches the UK's previous preference for a rifled gun and goes instead for a smooth bore design allowing interoperability with our NATO allies, especially Germany, in terms of both ammunition sharing and ammunition technology development. It also includes so called "UK-Sovereign" armour i.e. highly innovative advanced armour developed by the UK. This is not new to SwissP. Formerly known as Ruag Ammotec, they had produce Plastic Blank ammo with polymer casing. Why? The polymer case need a strength at the base to support ignition and explosive caused by the primer and propelant. Then, 10 years ago, I have been introduced with Shell Shock Hybrid NAS3 case for 9mm. Now they have these 3 pieces casing for rifle caliber as well. Then, Sig Sauer with their NGSW program also offering hybrid casing for the NGSW ammunition. When about month ago when SwissP also offering their Hybrid Case to the market during ShotShow 2024, the question is will NATO start using high performance ammunition just like NGSW program? No way SwissP offering this Hybrid Case unless something new and serious will happen in the near future for small caliber weapon system.

With Defense Beacon clients be the first to Know !! The Czech Army has just launched a tender for the supply of Aimpoint AB's new FCS 14 fire control system. They will be acquiring 18 systems in total, making them the launch customer for this technology. From Defense Beacon team perspective, the intriguing aspect is determining which systems these FCS 14 units will be integrated into. The FCS 14, successor to the FCS13RE, boasts a future (prepared for) networking capability to automatically receive and transmit target data to other units via soldiers’ networks, such as the ATAK app. It is also equipped with LRF and a high-definition display, enhancing its versatility across various weapons platforms. The FCS 14 (weight of 1.5 kilograms (optics only) or around 2 kilograms (optics with thermal imaging channel) can be utilized with a range of weapons, such as M240, M2 machine gun, the Mk19 40mm automatic grenade launcher, 12.7mm machine gun, and 20mm automatic cannon. However, its primary use is for shoulder-launched rockets/missiles like the Saab Carl Gustaf M4 and Carl Gustaf M3, in service with the Czech Army, or the MBDA Deutschland Enforcer. MBDA’s head of sales and business development campaigns and international business, Michael Reider, revealed (November 2023) that the company had successfully executed a customer demonstration of the Enforcer integrated with the FCS14. Later on in Feb 2024 MBDA Deutschland reported on first Enforcer export contract. We believe the Czech Army's acquisition of the FCS 14 aims to enhance their Carl Gustaf M3 anti-tank recoilless weapons, part of the 601st Special Forces Group and the 43rd Airborne Regiment (acquired in 2005) unless it is for a small quantity of the M4 version/ Enforcer that was secretly acquired.
