Translucent buildings have a unique aesthetic and functional appeal – the use of polycarbonate cladding allows natural light in. The light that filters through these translucent materials tends to be diffused, creating a soft and even glow. These designs strike a balance between openness and seclusion. Used as facades and roofs to partitions and decorative elements, these panels allow for creative and versatile designs combined with energy efficiency. The pool enclosure at Midstream by ARC Architects is one of our examples where translucent panels were used alongside glass to change a once outdoor pool into an indoor pool without shutting out the outdoor light. Here functionality rather than aesthetics was at the core but still giving us a modern design. Watch this space for more of these sleek, modern and minimalist contemporary architectural designs from us. #translucentbuildings

Contemporary modernism, while referring to the minimalist trends of the past, has been reborn in a unique way 🤩 These days, it is not only minimalism but also the use of modern technology, especially in the form of impressive glazing, that defines this revolutionary aesthetic. ✅ Large glazings have become an integral part of the new modernism. They are not only an aesthetic treatment, but also allow more light to penetrate the interior, creating a feeling of cohesive integration with the environment. - However, in order for large glazing instead of walls to be fully effective, they must provide an adequate level of thermal insulation. Suitable materials and technologies are essential for achieving this. An example is Aluprof's MB-SKYLINE TYPE R sliding door system, which uses 3-chamber profiles constructed from two aluminum sections and a thermal insert. - says Tomáš Buček, Project Business Manager of Aluprof System Czech s.r.o. This #MetalMonday, let's look at the architectural prowess of aluminium, highlighting its role in one of the most iconic skyscrapers in the world, the Empire State Building. When it was constructed in the early 1930s, the Empire State Building not only became the tallest building at the time but also a pioneer in the use of aluminium for architectural purposes. Aluminium was utilised extensively throughout the building's interior and famously in its towering spire. This choice was revolutionary, as aluminum was admired for its lightweight and corrosion-resistant properties, making it ideal for such a ground-breaking project. The metal's natural sheen added to the building’s appearance, enhancing its art deco design. At Bodycote, we recognise the significance of aluminium in transforming urban landscapes, helping to shape modern architecture around the globe. #Architecture #NewYork #InnovativeMaterials #NYC #aluminium

PLEASE JOIN ME THIS TUES 6:00-7:30. the Bauhaus style, also known as the International Style, was marked by the absence of ornamentation and by harmony between the function of an object or a building and its design. •The International Style is often thought of as the "architecture of the machine age," which symbolized for many the crystallization of modernism in building design. This became particularly true after World War II, when the postwar economic building boom made the International Style a kind of "unofficial" American architecture. •Often called "minimalist" architecture, International Style buildings are well-known for the way they seem to strip away all extraneous ornament from the structure, leading to an extreme blurring of interior and exterior space, the exposure of buildings' construction with unvarnished honesty, and the glorification of modern industrial materials: chiefly, steel, concrete, and glass.

The image illustrates a set of high-rise buildings with an intertwined design, evoking a sense of unity and continuity. The towers' reflective surfaces and the naturalistic elements at their base, possibly gardens or green spaces, create a striking juxtaposition of urbanity and nature. The architecture is futuristic, with a fluid form that challenges traditional skyscraper silhouettes. The buildings' reflective cladding and organic form make a strong visual statement, likely intended to be a prominent feature of the city's skyline. For its innovative design and visual impact, this structure could be rated 9 out of 10, marking it as a potential icon of modern architecture.
