Why CRDB? #1 reason IMO is the zero downtime upgrades. We talk a lot at Cockroach Labs about survivability and scale. However, the most common outage is usually planned downtime. But what if you didn't have to plan for downtime? How much time and effort would you save? Join our webinar to see how you won't have to plan for any downtime...ever. https://lnkd.in/gc8Rw37R #distributedsystems #cockroachdb #distributedsql

Data Platform Product Head, Open (Source) Data Product Specification maintainer, Books authored: Terraforming Data Product Governance, AI-Powered Data Products, Deliver Value in the Data Economy, and API Economy 101.
The last document was finalized today in onboarding Open Data Product Specification to The Linux Foundation. Our mission is to develop a vendor-neutral, open source, machine-readable data product metadata model including YAML Schema. YAML based enables seamless CI/CD process adoption and scaling. ODPS version 3.0 supports Data Quality and SLA as Everything as Code (often used for example in monitoring). We are grateful for the opportunity the Linux Foundation gave us. The Linux Foundation is a credible, mature, and trusted host with a history of a plethora of impactful projects. The idea of getting ODPS under the wings of Linux Foundation was not invented this year. Already 2019 when I ignited the specification, I said that as a goal but only to a few selected people :) I did not dare to say it publicly. Now we can push the envelope and mature Open Data Product Specification as one of the cornerstones of future data economy and management. https://lnkd.in/g9G_pR7g #linuxfoundation #project #dataeconomy #dataproducts

Have you ever completely broken your Linux machine after a system update? Tweaked some config that made your system unstable? We've all been there, so disaster recovery is critical to allowing us to run wild—especially on Arch (btw). Follow along in our two latest tutorials that cover Timeshift and how it works on different file systems. 🔗 Restoring Arch with Timeshift snapshots (https://lnkd.in/ePycirar) 🔗 Timeshift: Can I Use It? (https://lnkd.in/e6XUhHPm) Whether you’re a seasoned Linux user or just starting, having a reliable recovery tool is essential. 🖥️✨ 👉 Check out these to learn about Timeshift and how it can fit into your Linux system! #Linux #ArchLinux #Timeshift #SystemRecovery #Snapshots #ext4 #Btrfs #Typecraft --- This version now correctly focuses on the **comparison of ext4 and Btrfs** in the second article.

One of my ideas always was using Jupiter Notebook in data conversion, as it is a robust solution for combining the code and documentation, but when I tried to show it to a client it looked too 'nerdy', let's see if this makes difference: Jupiter Notebook allows to setup a web server JupiterHub with easy Linux based authorization, this can be installed literally anywhere from local Windows machine to rented ubuntu server. If that's ringed any bells, feel free to ask how it works and for time being I plan to keep it as a running Docker container on my server: http://49.12.220.213:8005 with a basic test case of removing duplicates from csv file. I won't share the credentials here, but no problem to give you access if you want to try. Excel but on steroids with full logging and transparency, ideal for repetitive data manipulation tasks.

🤦♂️ How much time do I spend researching errors and attempting to debug when all I need to do is restart the server? It's frustrating, 🤬 but we've all been there. 🌥️ On the bright side, if I had restarted the server in the first place, my code would have worked flawlessly. 💡 Lesson learned: sometimes the simplest solution is the best solution.
