As someone who started their professional aquarist journey in a Petco Aquatics department, Quality Marine seemed like a distant haven. A place from which all our premium aquatic animals came from. Naturally, getting the opportunity to work at Quality Marine has been a dream come true for me as an aquarist and hobbyist. Quality Marine is at the forefront of the aquarium wholesale industry, being one of the largest importers of aquarium fish in the world. I have been able to work with every species of aquarium animal that I knew about when I started, plus thousands more. In my free time, I love going to public aquariums. Yet not one compares to the diversity of animals that you see at Quality Marine. From common Ocellaris Clownfish and Peppermint Cleaner Shrimp all the way to Weedy Sea Dragons and Neptune Groupers. If you can think of a saltwater animal, it has passed through these doors. I remember being absolutely amazed with the sheer variety of species when I first toured the facility and knew that this was where I wanted to be. As a member of the invertebrate husbandry team, my duties include feeding fish, corals, and their allies a diverse diet that includes in-house cultured live feeds and high quality natural and enriched foods. I also treat any illnesses that the animals may have contracted, frag coral, grade new coral imports, and my favorite part of the job, learn as much about each and every saltwater creature that I can. Having the opportunity to work with these animals in such a close fashion is an absolute privilege. Not a day goes by that I don’t learn something new, and there is a plethora of experienced people on the team here, all willing to share their knowledge. Quality Marine is a beacon of the aquarium trade and hobby, and I take pride in working for a company that strives for the highest quality in the industry.
