As #businessleaders we frequently get presented with obstacles both internal and external, it is why we build capability within our organisations. P3: What an incredible game last night! Ohio State’s victory in the national championship is more than just a win on the field—it’s a testament to what can happen when faith, belief, and teamwork come together. This team faced two tough losses during the season, one of which put them in a deep hole. Many might have counted them out, but they never stopped believing in each other, never stopped pushing, and never stopped fighting. They stayed unified through the challenges, kept their focus, and showed the heart of champions by rising to the occasion when it mattered most. Their journey is a powerful reminder for all of us: in life, we will get knocked down. It’s inevitable. But how we respond—how we get back up, stay focused, and keep moving forward—that’s the true mark of a champion. It’s not about the setbacks; it’s about the comeback. What a lesson we learned last night! For me, the biggest takeaway was this: no matter how tough the circumstances, when you believe in your purpose and in the people around you, you can overcome anything. What was one huge takeaway you felt yesterday? Let’s carry that championship mindset into our lives today and beyond. Sometimes the real competition is only with yourself. Every time champion pole-vaulter Armand Duplantis enters a competition, he's actually competing in two separate events. The first is against other pole-vaulters (which he almost always wins) and the second is to try and break his own world record (which he's now done 10 times). Duplantis is one of the best examples of continuous improvement, and it's no wonder that his progress seems like it's on a different plane to everyone else. The graph below is a great illustration of this- the blue line shows his steady upward trajectory with each record-breaking effort, while the red shows the up-and-down nature of those who finished second in each event that he's won. Even if you're not a generational sporting talent, one of the keys to growth is to know when to compete against others, and when it's just you vs. yourself. And whenever you think you're not making progress, just think of Armand Duplantis- who decided to get a little better every day until he was the best there ever was.

WINNERS VS LOSERS In every competition,there are two categories of winners/losers: WINNERS 1.The circumstantial (short term) winners: They score more points during the competition and take home the physical gift allotted for winning at the time. It could be that they worked very hard for it and/or that time and chance gave them the much needed advantage. It doesn't necessarily mean that they worked harder than the others. Of course, I am not discrediting/downplaying the role of hard work in our winnings. I am only pointing out that beyond hard work, there are other factors that come into the mix to determine the final outcome. 2.The Lifelong winners: they may or may not have won the trophy at the time, but beyond that, they discover something else worth fighting/living for and stick with it,such that after the competition they press on with more determination to do and be better in every possible way. In other words, they allow the process of the short term competition to positively transform their approach to life beyond the temporary competition. LOSERS The world generally classifies those who are not able to take home the trophy(for one reason or the other) as losers, but that's not the truth. They go home without trophies not because they lost but because the trophies are always in short supply and almost always never enough to go round. Everyone who shows up and participates in one way or another is a winner. The only loser is the one who neither shows up nor participates at all. Lifelong Losers These ones could be the short term winners who take home the trophy,but never get any better after the competition. They get so distracted celebrating the temporary win that they lose focus of the bigger picture and on the next best thing God is doing. They could also be those ones who chronically avoid participating for fear of not winning. So,they would rather not participate at all than participate and not win any trophies.How short-sighted /narrow minded they are!! Are you a winner or a loser?
