Today Quantinuum and STFC Hartree Centre announce a development that will be foundational to start exploiting the power of hybrid HPC and Supercomputing resources alongside quantum computers. Our H-series quantum processor is now incapable of being classically simulated in key areas, and this performance will grow exponentially. A few years ago our test bed results - which we did not publish - created a cornerstone for the steady achievement of world records in performance and fidelity. Having addressed the question of how our quantum processors will scale by solving the so called 'wiring problem' we are now at the early stages of quantum devices that will solve some of the world's most intractable problems. Doing so here in the UK is of vital importance as Britain continues to lead the world in harnessing these technologies. I could not be more proud and more excited. #ai #quantumcomputing #quantumtechnologies

For those going to SPIE Photonics West, I highly encourage you to check out this talk from Carl Williams: "Quantum West Business Summit: Benefits and Risks in Quantum Computing". Abstract: Quantum computing is an emerging tech with significant implications for both national prosperity and security. The commercial quantum computing industry is rapidly growing and aims to achieve practical applications in the coming years. In this presentation, I will examine the current knowledge on potential quantum computing uses, advancements in the industry, and their implications on public key infrastructure. I will provide a sense of what the likely timeline is for both for economically viable quantum computation and cryptgraphically relevant quantum attacks. Finally, I will discuss the development of quantum-safe cryptographic standards and offer guidance for transitioning cryptographic infrastructure to withstand quantum-based attacks. Our objective is to equip security experts and policy makers with non-hyped insights into the economic and security impacts of quantum computing. https://lnkd.in/emrt3Hvc #QuantumComputing #QuantumTech #QuantumPolicy #SciPol

An emerging technology known as a quantum network is revolutionizing the way geographically dispersed users share entangled quantum bits. This innovation not only enhances security but also enables novel communication tasks like generating shared cryptographic keys. The evolution of computing hardware has the potential to enhance the utility of public key cryptography, making it even more robust. Thanks to quantum networks, customers can now effortlessly access third-party quantum computers on the cloud, streamlining computation processes while safeguarding their sensitive data and valuable code. Quantum networks leverage quantum phenomena such as superposition, no-cloning, and entanglement, setting them apart from traditional networks. In these networks, photons or ions (the qubits) exist in a superposition of all possible quantum states before measurement selects one, leading to intrinsic security due to the noise disruption during measurement. This unique design ensures that quantum networks remain inherently secure when appropriately developed and managed. The recent Nobel Prize in Physics 2022 awarded to Alain Aspect, John Clauser, and Anton Zeilinger for their groundbreaking experiments with entangled photons and the violation of Bell’s inequalities has sparked renewed interest in quantum entanglement—the fundamental aspect of quantum networks—and its vast potential applications. #QuantumNetworks #QuantumComputing #Cybersecurity #Innovation #NobelPrize2022

Today, cryptography utilizes AES (2^256). Challenges in quantum computing arise due to noise at 100 qubits (2^100). Despite being complex and operating at near absolute zero temperatures, quantum computers are essentially powerful permutation calculators, outperforming supercomputers in tasks like factoring large primes. However, their superiority is not universal especially in parallel processing.
