🎉 Congratulations to Zilinka Jiang on winning the Actuaries Institute Women Leaders in Data Science Scholarship through Chief Executive Women (CEW)! This scholarship will see Zilinka head to the Stanford University Graduate School of Business later this year to complete their Executive Program in Leadership. For 15 years, Zilinka has been a key part of Quantium, turning complex data into valuable insights for our clients and partners. She has also used her technical superpower to inspire and mentor countless data scientists across our global team. This scholarship comes at an exciting time in Zilinka’s career as she takes on a new leadership role at Quantium Telstra, our joint venture with Telstra. Congratulations Zilinka! We're delighted to announce the appointment of Makenna Ralston as CEO of CommBank iQ – Quantium’s joint venture with Commonwealth Bank of Australia.   Makenna has been a driving force at Quantium for eight years, most recently as Chief of Staff to our CEO and interim Head of Quantium’s US business. During her time at Quantium, she saw the establishment of CommBank iQ that has since been transforming how businesses use data and AI by combining the data set from Australia’s largest bank with 20+ years of leading analytics.   Makenna understands our business inside and out and brings deep passion for both analytics excellence and nurturing the industry’s top AI talent. There are 3 things companies need to succeed in AI: data, technology to analyse that data, and people – words from our CEO, Adam Driussi, at this week’s AFR AI Summit. From business transformation to jobs of the future, the Summit brought together leading voices in data, investment and policy to translate AI from concept to commercial impact. Cost of living pressures continue to bite, and it’s those aged 25-29 who are tightening their belts the most. In fact, younger Aussies are the only age group cutting back on both essential and discretionary expenses. This week, CommBank iQ – our joint venture with Commonwealth Bank – released its latest Cost of Living Insights Report. The report takes de-identified payments data to reveal how Australians are adjusting spending and to help businesses keep up with customer preferences. While younger Australians and those in metro areas continue to be hardest hit, there is a glimmer of hope with the data showing downward momentum losing some steam. The news is even better for over-60s, who are spending ahead of inflation, and Aussies in regional areas – though the spending gap between regional and metro areas is narrowing.
