Today, we join the World Health Organization (WHO) and its partners around the globe in recognizing #WorldHepatitisDay. Globally, there are over 200 million undiagnosed and untreated individuals living with hepatitis. Despite advancements in treatment, deaths from the virus are increasing: in 2022, 3,500 people a day – 1.3 million a year – died of hepatitis-related causes. The WHO has set a goal to eliminate viral hepatitis by 2030 through developing more advanced testing, expanding access to diagnostic tools, and encouraging the use of vaccinations. Quantori is proud to contribute to these efforts by supporting innovation in the pharmaceutical and life sciences industries, as well as the global health system overall. Learn more about how you can support WHO’s efforts and be part of the #TimeForAction to end hepatitis here: https://lnkd.in/eu4n5dJR

As part of #WorldHepatitisDay, hear from expert speakers such as Micheal Besong, Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, Manal Ghazzawi, Funmi Lesi, World Health Organization, and others at our webinar tomorrow, 23 July, 12:00 UTC/GMT. Together we will explore how we can increase timely access to hepatitis B birth dose vaccines and achieve the 2030 elimination goals. Globally, only 45% of infants received a dose of the hepatitis B vaccine within 24 hours of birth in 2022. Some regions are even further behind – 63% of new hepatitis B infections were in the WHO African Region, yet only 18% of newborns receive the hepatitis B birth dose vaccine. There is no time to waste. Register for the webinar, and take action >> https://bit.ly/3LoBHc8 #TimeforAction

Since January 2020, there have been over 775 million confirmed cases of Covid-19 and 7 million deaths globally. Vaccinations and increased virologic exposure in the population have attenuated the nature of the clinical illness and reduced the severe outcomes associated with the early pandemic stages. However, there is ongoing global transmission of SARS-CoV-2 and evolution of variant strains, with the potential to cause more serious illness. Only limited antiviral options are available to reduce symptomatic illness and disease progression. In an editorial, Drs. Amy C. Sherman and Lindsey R. Baden examine a trial of olgotrelvir for outpatient Covid-19 and discuss the potential benefits of the treatment. We proudly partnered with Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance to develop and operationalize the Gavi Digital Health Information Strategy in support of the broader Gavi 5.0 Strategy, which had four main goals: 1. Vaccines: introducing & scaling up coverage of high-impact vaccines in eligible countries 2. Equity: strengthen #healthsystems to increase equity in immunization 3. Sustainability: improve sustainability of immunization programs 4. Healthy Markets: ensure healthy markets for vaccines and related products Gavi has made significant progress in expanding access to #immunization and averting millions of deaths from vaccine-preventable diseases. The upcoming 2026-2030 strategic period “Gavi 6.0” offers a critical window to build on this momentum and mitigate impacts of disruptions. We look forward to continuing to support Gavi’s work ahead through our #digitalhealth strategy, #research, program design, and capacity strengthening. 💡 Read the Gavi Digital Health Information Strategy: https://lnkd.in/g_jBarEN 📌 Learn more about what’s in store for Gavi 6.0 by joining this discussion with Center for Global Development this Thursday February 29: https://lnkd.in/gEfhFXE7

At Meningitis Research Foundation, we advocate for change as a dedicated champion for those affected by meningitis and septicaemia. Vaccines are the best way to prevent meningitis and have almost eliminated some other causes of this deadly disease. 🛡️ For decades, MenB has been the most common cause of bacterial meningitis in the UK and Ireland. Building on work on cost-effectiveness by Meningitis Research Foundation and others, the MenB vaccine was made freely available in the UK and Ireland in September 2015. 🎊 We continue to spread awareness around the type of vaccines out there to protect people against meningitis and advise people on how and where they can access these life-saving vaccines. We also have fact sheets for all the vaccines provided in the UK, available on our website. Learn more here: https://buff.ly/2pQoVsS #MeningitsPrevention #DefeatMeningitis

We often struggle to grasp the threat of viral hepatitis, leading to a lack of prioritization. Understanding the significance of vaccines over treatment is crucial. Prevention through vaccination, especially from mother to children, is key. Humanizing the disease rather than instilling fear and stigma is essential. Raising awareness and educating the community about the preventive power of vaccines is the starting point. It's up to us to decide between more deaths or more health. Hepatitis B vaccination is a key preventive measure against both hepatitis B infection and its associated risk of liver cancer. This vaccination is often recommended for individuals at higher risk of exposure, such as healthcare workers, and people born to mothers with hepatitis B. #VaccinateForHealth #CancerPreventionVaccine #HPVVaccination #HepatitisBVaccine #CancerPrevention #VaccinesWork #ProtectAgainstCancer

🌍 Breaking News in Global Health!🌍 🚨 Major Milestone in the Fight Against Mpox! 🚨 The WHO has officially approved the first mpox (formerly monkeypox) vaccine, marking a pivotal step in the fight against this devastating disease. Bavarian Nordic’s Jynneos vaccine is now available for distribution, particularly in regions like Africa, where the disease has hit hardest. This approval is a beacon of hope for vulnerable populations, especially children, who are disproportionately affected by mpox. This decision enables organizations such as the United Nations and Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, to coordinate vaccine procurement and distribution to regions in dire need of mpox prevention tools. 🔥 Key Takeaways: - Jynneos vaccine gains WHO prequalification status ✅ - Focus on low-income regions, including Africa 🌍 - Urgent vaccine rollout to protect lives, especially children under 15 Africa CDC and WHO launch a coordinated response plan for equitable distribution.
