🏀 My Employee Resource Group New Year's Resolutions for 2024 As we welcome 2024 (not too late to say this right?!), it's a time for renewal and setting new goals. Following many conversations with Employee Resource Groups (ERG), I’ve collected some best practice for you as to what Network Leaders can do better in 2024. Here are our five New Year's resolutions recommendations for leading our ERG more effectively... 🏀 1 - Enhance member engagement This year, commit to implementing more interactive and member-centric activities. This could include peer mentoring programmes, skill-sharing workshops, or virtual coffee meets. Some of the networks are already brilliant at this! The aim is to create more opportunities for members to connect, learn, and grow together. 🏀 2 - Improve diversity in your leadership Recognising the importance of diverse perspectives in leadership, consider actively mentoring and encouraging members from underrepresented groups (or even from allies) to take on leadership roles within your ERG. (shout out to Joel Markham, James Mannion and others who I see doing this!) This effort will ensure a more inclusive and representative leadership team. And for the longer term. 🏀 3 - Strengthen your intersectional collaboration In 2024, focus on fostering collaboration with other ERGs. By creating joint initiatives, you can leverage a wider range of skills, enhance your events to a wider audience, find new members, and maybe even think outside the box! 🏀 4 - Focus on communication How do you maintain open lines of communication with your members? We recommend regular updates on your activities, updates on events, external activities and useful resources. This approach will build trust and ensure that members feel heard and valued. 🏀 5 - Continuous learning and improvement Finally, as a network leader, you need to be a proactive learner. This involves staying updated on best practices in diversity and inclusion, attending relevant workshops, and seeking feedback for personal growth. Your development as a leader is integral to the success of your ERG.
