Artist. Muralist. Typographer. Mapmaker. Author. Speaker. Storyteller. General Ragamuffin making life a lot more charming.
Can you paint a mural? How much? Sure, here’s my jobs… Job 1. Account handler. First I have to go through a companies history, philosophy, understand the brief, the client and the message they want to convey. This can take time, as ideas go back and forth. As well as health and safety and form filling. Days, weeks. Job 2. Copywriter Next comes the writing. I use a specific language that has been honed, skilled and specialised over the past 15 years. Using language that has wit, charm and also evokes positivity. Totally unique. Filling a 10m wall with dozens of stories is flipping challenging! You try! Job 3. Designer Next comes sketches. I have to lay out the stories and make them sing. Design the piece so it’s balanced and works in the allocated space. Remember this could be a wall that’s 10m in length. No mean feat Job 4. Creative director / account handler Present the designs. Get feedback from the client to hone and tune the piece. To include facts, stories, hidden details, to add charm and make bespoke. 100% dedicated to the client. Job 5. All the above Present to client, perhaps sign off. Perhaps more changes. As well as continuously chase for comments and feedback. Job 6. Production and architectural manager I often deal with architects, interior designers, planners, office managers, HR, CEO’s, builders and installers as well as electricians and other trades to work around how and when the murals can be painted Job 7. Artist The actual painting of the artwork. This can take between 5-12 days depending on the size of the wall. There’s also if the wall paint doesn’t take, I then have to fix in my allocated time as there’s no time to get a decorator in to fix. Rare, but it’s happenned where I had to repaint the whole wall again. Lose a day and a half and still complete in the 5 days. Also sealing the artwork. Job 8. Cleaner and space coordinator To make sure the area remains clean and clear. Job 9. Accounts. Invoicing. At times chasing for payment and following up. Rare, but had some jobs where I had to threaten legal action and late payment penalties. Job 10. Film maker and editor I Timelapse murals so the client has a record of the production which can be used in promotional marketing So yes. Basically one person doing the job of at least 10. Time consuming. Bliss..

Analyzing Brand Mission to Choose the Right Typography! Typography is more than just picking a font. It’s about aligning with the brand’s mission and telling its story through type. A well-chosen font set can enhance readability and resonate with the brand’s values. Here’s how to analyze a brand mission to choose the right typography. Understand the Brand Mission ------------------------------- Start by deeply understanding the brand’s mission. What is the core message? Who is the target audience? What emotions should the brand evoke? A brand mission often reflects its values, goals, and vision. For instance, a mission centred on innovation and modernity might require sleek, contemporary fonts, while a mission focused on tradition and heritage might benefit from classic, serif fonts. Reflecting on the Brand Story ------------------------------ Typography should support and enhance the brand story. Consider how the font style can visually represent the narrative. A brand with a playful, youthful story might use whimsical, rounded fonts, while a brand with a professional, authoritative story might use solid and bold fonts. The font choice should make the brand story visually compelling and immediately recognizable. Ensuring Readability --------------------------- Readability is crucial. No matter how beautiful or fitting a font is, it must be readable. Test fonts in various sizes and contexts are required to ensure clarity. Pay attention to letter spacing, line height, and weight to avoid straining the reader’s eyes. For digital platforms, consider web-safe fonts that render well across different devices and screen resolutions. Creating a Cohesive Font Set ----------------------------- A cohesive font set typically includes a primary font for headlines, a secondary font for body text, and an accent font for unique elements. Ensure these fonts complement each other and maintain consistency across all brand materials. The primary font should grab attention, the secondary font should ensure readability, and the accent font should add flair without overwhelming the design. Aligning with Brand Aesthetics ------------------------------- Finally, the typography should be aligned with the overall brand aesthetics. The font should harmonize with design elements such as colours, graphics, and layout. This creates a unified visual identity that strengthens brand recognition. Conclusion --------------- Choosing the right typography involves more than aesthetics. It’s about understanding the brand mission, reflecting the brand story, ensuring readability, creating a cohesive font set, and aligning with brand aesthetics. Following these steps, you can select typography that looks good and effectively communicates the brand’s essence. For more insights on branding and design, follow Mantegh Studio Inc. This is when elegance is highlighted by a different aspect of the design. This is a great starting point. 1.Elegant brand identities use a limited color palette Black and white is the most elegant combination of colors, particularly white letters on black backgrounds. This combination is used often in luxury brands such as watches, cars, jewelry, and watches. Sometimes, it's complemented by a touch of gold or silver. Elegant brands shouldn't use chromatic (rainbow-colored) colors. A distinctive main color will help your brand stand out from the rest. The overall color palette should be muted/monochromatic with one strong saturated color atmosphere. While any color can look elegant when used in the right contexts, some colors are more difficult to combine. Neon green and bright red, while elegant by themselves, aren't as well-known for their elegance. You should use a saturated, bright color only as an accent, and not on large areas. This will make you appear more elegant. The monogram of this brand identity has a strong accent color that is warm, but it is always surrounded by neutral colors. The brand applications feature a dark, cool, and non-saturated color. This is highlighted in the brand style guide to ensure that no one uses the coral red color on large surfaces. 2. Elegant logos use a single font style The more fonts included in a logo design, the better it will look. There are exceptions to this rule, but you need to think about whether it is really necessary to include another font. What effect will this have on elegance perception? One exception I often see is the combination of script font for one term in the name and a sans serif for another. That can look good, if perhaps overly Trendy. The overall brand identity should include more than one typeface in different font styles. A single font would be too boring. We usually use one font for headings and pull quotes. Another font is used in paragraphs, lists, and tables. For the logo, however, less is more. 3. Thinner fonts look more elegant than thicker fonts A font with a lighter weight (normal, light, or extra light), will look more elegant than one that is thicker (bold or black or extra black). However, logos that are too thin can be difficult to read in small sizes. High-contrast sans-serif and script fonts are exceptions. They are often used in fashion magazines and manage to be bold and elegant while still being legible. Because the client wanted a logo that was elegant and bold, I created one for her. She is a stylish woman with elegant taste, so I thought it was a subtle nod towards fashion magazines. Although they make an impact, thick and chunky logos are not considered elegant.
