Quantum computing is entering an exciting new stage, sometimes dubbed "early fault-tolerance", where quantum error correction (QEC) nears the break-even point. This means that logical qubits - which encode quantum information redundantly over many physical qubits - achieve reliability comparable to that of the underlying physical qubits. This essentially fires up the second stage booster of quantum computing: future improvements in the technology will be driven not only by progress in hardware engineering, but also by development of QEC protocols and software that implements them. This software includes high performance parallel decoders that run on powerful classical computers alongside the quantum processor to diagnose errors in real time. I am hiring C++ programmers to build this system. If you enjoy coding close to the OS and hardware, writing highly parallel software, tuning real-time systems, or developing scientific software then consider applying for the position below. Job Alert! 🚨 PhD on Synthetical data generation using multivariate models (part of AI-driven applications for Smart Distribution System Operation) The role of the distribution system operator (DSO) is changing from a passive maintainer of electricity networks to an active coordinator in the edge of the energy system. At the same time, customers become enabled to change from passive energy users to active participants in the local electricity system. Maintaining privacy and grid (cyber) security levels are part of the challenge to face. This specific research will focus on a scalable approach by using multivariate models to capture uncertainties in spatial-temporal correlations. It is expected to combine both top-down and bottom-up approaches into a scalable and stable solution. More specifically, the research will include: 1. Requirement specifications for both real-time state estimation and long-term power flow analysis 2. Design algorithms which combine the aggregated data and anonymized individual data 3. Validation of the developed algorithms in the simulation environment with grid use-case scenarios 4.
