At the Investing in Regional Queensland Forum held recently, Professor Simon Biggs, Vice-Chancellor and President of James Cook University, emphasised the significant workforce shortages faced in Northern Queensland. Cyber Security Minister Tony Burke will today introduce legislation to the lower house that would give Australia its first stand-alone Cyber Security Act. The legislative package will implement seven areas under the 2023-2030 Australian Cyber Security Strategy. Under the package, the government will be empowered to direct companies and other entities to fix serious deficiencies within their risk management program.
