A standout fact from the U.S. Trans Survey 2022: Nearly half (48%) of trans individuals who visited a healthcare provider in the last year faced negative experiences related to their transgender identity. 😔 This includes being refused healthcare, misgendered, subjected to harsh language, or even physical abuse. This statistic is more than a number; it's a call to action. It underscores the critical need for continued education and advocacy in healthcare to ensure trans individuals receive the respectful and competent care they deserve. At QueerCME, we're dedicated to changing these statistics, one educational session at a time. 💪🌟 #TransHealthcare #GenderAffirmingCare #FightTransphobia #QueerCME

This policy statement affirms APA’s support for unobstructed access to health care and evidence-based clinical care for transgender, gender-diverse, and nonbinary children, adolescents, and adults. Furthermore, this policy statement addresses the spread of misleading and unfounded narratives that mischaracterize gender dysphoria and affirming care, likely resulting in further stigmatization, marginalization, and lack of access to psychological and medical supports for transgender, gender-diverse, and nonbinary individuals. #PrideMonth #Wipsych #LGBTQSupport https://ow.ly/CLbI50RSngI

What are the biggest gaps in queer healthcare? - HIMSS Summary: In a recent video discussing the biggest gaps in queer healthcare, several key points were highlighted. The first area of concern is the lack of LGBTQ+ inclusive training for healthcare providers #LGBTQTraining. This results in many individuals in the queer community feeling misunderstood or discriminated against when seeking medical care. Another significant gap is the limited access to gender-affirming care for transgender and non-binary individuals #GenderAffirmingCare. This includes barriers to hormone therapy, surgery, and mental health support. Additionally, the lack of data collection on sexual orientation and gender identity in healthcare settings leads to a lack of understanding of the unique health needs of queer individuals #DataCollection. Finally, the absence of culturally competent care for queer people of color further ai.mediformatica.com #community #healthcare #healthcaresystem #medical #provider #digitalhealth #healthit #healthtech #healthcaretechnology @MediFormatica (https://buff.ly/3RndIgX)
