'REFRAME' TO FIND THE OPPORTUNITY -------------------------------------- I posted earlier this week about turning my cancelled train into an opportunity to network in a taxi! Many subsequent comments were about 'OPPORTUNITIES', and the fact that they are everywhere. So I thought I would publish my 'Opportunity Attitude Hierarchy' (you should be a 4 or 5). 1 There are no opportunities 2 There ARE opportunities but not in this sector/for me 3 I take advantage of every opportunity that lands in my lap 4 I actively seek opportunities 5 I CREATE MY OWN opportunities Sometimes all you need to do is reframe an event in your mind and create an opportunity based on an otherwise frustrating time. Current un-popular opinion: spending 10+ years at a company CAN be highly beneficial. Before you say, 'but you'll earn more by pivoting'. Yes, if you are only staying in the same/similar role. But, many companies you can pivot, move up and around within and still increase your salary. I spent almost 12 years at one company before starting Goho. I went in at the bottom and left a top senior position. This is unheard of now.
