In January, the NICE Decision Support Unit released its latest Technical Support Document - TSD 23 "A guide to calculating severity shortfall for nice evaluations". NICE has previously published the QALY weightings for its severity modifier for conditions which have a particularly large impact on patients' absolute or relative future QALYs. This document provides further technical advice on how to implement the modifier within a economic modelling framework. I created a quick summary of the top issues to help my team, and I thought I would share it here for those who are interested.
