Alternative Olympics - IOC and WADA are angry. Games without hypocritical doping controls are becoming a reality. Australian businessman Aaron D'Souza presented a project for an Alternative Olympics, where there will be no doping control! A Melbourne millionaire has launched the Enhanced Games movement. He is tired of seeing the sport's development hampered by the WADA bureaucracy, so he encourages athletes to come to his competitions, completely free from any doping control. “If a person has the opportunity to make himself stronger, why should he limit himself to this?” - Aaron is perplexed. Quite logical. In his opinion, the existing doping control system has long discredited itself. The Olympics are mired in corruption, while, despite strict control, cheaters (athletes who do not play by the rules) still find loopholes. So wouldn't it be easier to abandon doping control in principle? A pool of investors led by three multi-billionaires - PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel, venture capitalist and biotech pioneer Christian Angermeier, and crypto-capitalist Balaji Srinivasan - announced their readiness to finance the controversial venture. The main feature of the competition that D'Souza wants to organize is the lack of testing for performance-enhancing drugs. This will be done in order to "encourage the penetration of scientific advances into sports" and "reject the burden of outdated anti-science beliefs that demotivate advanced athletes." At the same time, Angermeier promised that the results of the “Doping Games” would “attract enormous interest and capture the imagination of the public.” The time for the first Enhanced Games has not yet been announced, but December 2024 was previously mentioned as a possible date. Since the project is primarily aimed at the personal progress of athletes, it was decided to abandon team sports at the Games. So far, five disciplines have been announced - swimming, gymnastics, weightlifting, athletics and martial arts. According to the organizers, more than 900 athletes have already shown interest in the upcoming competitions. D'Souza assures that among them there are world-famous stars. In response to fierce criticism from opponents who believe that experiments with the abolition of doping controls threaten the lives and health of competitors, the organizers of the Enhanced Games promise that these starts will be “the safest international sporting event in history.” To achieve this, it is planned to organize unprecedented medical monitoring of the athletes’ health status and monitoring of any risks. The authors of the idea emphasize that the use of doping is a “personal choice of adults” who should not be prohibited from “pushing the limits of human capabilities in order to set new world records.” “In an era of accelerating technological and scientific change, the world needs a sporting event that looks forward to the future of medical science,” said D’Souza.

This article is a great overview of the opportunity’s for #studentathletes to gain valuable competition experience in their athlete pathway. But an event like the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games also provides professional development for #adminstrators #coaches #officials and #volunteers. Of course you don’t have to go to an international event to benefit from sport. Sport clubs and social sport on campus create friendships and also provide opportunities for administrators, coaches, officials and volunteers. Did you know that if you are a university or college student, that you are more likely to graduate if you get involved with a club or sport during university? Food for thought. #universitysport #collegesport #sportclubs #fisu #WeAreOceania UniSport Australia FISU - International University Sports Federation EUSA - European University Sports Association FASU - Federation of Africa University Sports
With the World University Games (WUG) now the second largest multi-sport event globally, Former Australian Opals Coach Carrie Graf’s insights reaffirm its importance in the high-performance sport landscape. Graf, who led the Opals to gold at the London 2012 Olympic Games and coached the UniRoos, advocates for leveraging this event to prepare athletes and officials for the Olympic stage. "The World Uni Games is a true world event, allowing our athletes compete against the best from all countries around the world in a multi-sport, village-based event that gives them a good sense of what the Olympic Games experience will be like," said Graf. The WUG not only fosters elite performance but also helps develop the next generation of coaches, referees, and sports officials, ensuring a robust future for Australian sport. 🎾 Amazing to see four of our projects for three of the Grand Slams feature in an article this weekend by Financial Times ahead of Wimbledon kicking off today. “We recognise the potential of gaming as a platform to engage with younger, tech-savvy audiences who consume sports and entertainment in innovative ways. Gaming also allows the AO brand to live year-round on platforms that exist 24/7, 365 days per year.” Ridley Plummer “Digital channels are an on-ramp for people to then go and watch live on TV. We look at them as ways to engage and create meaningful relationships. We can then continue to engage for many years to come.” Usama Al-Qassab “Those that have a strong sports game — either mobile or console — and a strong gaming presence will win significantly. Should the #Paralympic Games be combined with the #Olympic Games? It is a question that's been discussed and recently. The reasons for and against are valid, for now. However as technology progress and abilities to handle extremely large events improve, would we someday see the Games combined? What do you think? #inclusive #athletes https://lnkd.in/gHBb5G2x https://lnkd.in/gYcaKyvh

There could be several reasons why some cities or countries are hesitant to host the Olympic Games. Some common factors include the high cost of hosting the event, concerns about the financial burden and potential economic risks, the need for extensive infrastructure investments, and the complex logistics involved in organizing such a large-scale international event. Additionally, there may be public sentiment against hosting the Olympics due to perceived negative impacts on the environment, local communities, and existing facilities. Each potential host city or country evaluates these factors and weighs the pros and cons before deciding whether to bid for and host the Olympic Games.

As the Paris Games approaches, I just came across this interesting channel and video: https://lnkd.in/eBRJg_K7 Among other things, it talks about the IOC finding a permanent host of the Games. Could that really be a solution? Tagging some experts. ;-) Terrence Burns, Michael Payne, Patrick Nally #olympics #olympicgames

It is great to have this discussion about The Enhanced Games and the #olympics given the Modern Olympics were created by and for elite European men and they remain dominated by the same countries every four years though in #paris2024 women and men will compete in the same numbers. Thanks Tracey Holmes for sharing this. There should be checks on unbridled power. The essence of sport is to win and athletes have sought advantages throughout history. Now we have a situation where doping or cheating is based on what WADA says it is rather than following the science in each case. Several substances on the banned list have little to no significant performance-enhancing qualities while some "legal" substances and supplements which are not banned do enhance performance. Ultimately, until all athletes have access to the same training sites, tools and support, we won't have a level playing field but one that continues to uphold the power structures that created the monopolies of the IOC and WADA. The answers could have come from within the system, otherwise, groups like those behind The Enhanced Games will emerge to fill the void. I have long argued for a United Nations-style global sport and peace training site or sites where all athletes, regardless of nationality, have access to the best sports science and nutrition. A better system for a real level playing field is possible if enough people have the will to fight for it. #olympicgames #sport #sports #enhancedgames #doping #wada #antidoping #sportscience #levelplayingfield #exercisescience #sportsperformance #nutrition
Are the Enhanced Games a threat to the Olympics?
