Our agency partners at Centennial Insurance Group, Inc. are working to support victims of Hurricane Helene. Just business as usual…
Just as another hurricane hit Florida, the child of a central Florida woman is litigating a claim from a previous storm – Hurricane Ian in 2022. This time, though, the plaintiff claims not only breach of contract by a Florida property insurance company, but that the insurer’s lack of repairs to the home caused the death of a 58-year-old policyholder. https://lnkd.in/gbCdFFXj

Hurricane damage like that caused by Hurricane Ian can take years to recover from and for business owners that means an extended period of having to close shop. Business owner Matt Blaisdell was deeply concerned he would be wiped out financially. Thankfully his business insurance covered the damage and his loss of income. We never want these types of devastating weather events to occur but when they inevitably do, it’s humbling to see the insurance process at work. #msainsurance #protectingmainstreet

In the wake of Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton, our community has shown incredible resilience. As we come together to rebuild, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to all the workers—first responders, contractors, and volunteers—who have dedicated their time and effort to help us recover. However, as we rally together to rebuild, it's crucial to address the challenges many homeowners will be facing with their insurance claims. One foreseeable issue is going to be the misclassification of damage. Some insurers may incorrectly label damage as flood-related from Helene rather than hurricane/wind damage from Milton. This distinction can significantly impact your coverage. To help ensure you receive the compensation you deserve, remember to document everything! Take photos of any damage, keep records of communications with your insurance company, and maintain receipts for any repairs. Thorough documentation is key to supporting your claim. If you're feeling overwhelmed by the claims process, I’m here to help you navigate these complexities. https://lnkd.in/guyWbicT

🌪️ What To Do After a Loss: Steps to Protect Your Home 🌪️ In the aftermath of Hurricane Milton or Hurricane Helene, it’s critical to take swift action to protect your home and ease the claims process. Here’s what you can do: Contact your insurance agent to confirm your coverage and deductible, and report your claim ASAP. Prevent further damage by tarping your roof or drying out wet areas. Your insurance carrier can help you find a trusted vendor. Make temporary repairs and keep all receipts. Document the damage with photos or video before making any repairs. If your home was damaged during Hurricane Milton, prioritize safety first. Evacuate immediately if there’s structural instability or other hazards like downed power lines. Call 911 for urgent assistance. Once safe, document the damage with photos (if possible), and contact your insurance provider to start a claim. Centauri policyholders should call 1-877-234-4401 to file a homeowner or businessowner claim. Finally, arrange for a licensed contractor to inspect the damage and secure the area. Stay safe.
