Helen Keller once said, 'Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.' This rings true for #WorldCancerDay's theme: #CloseTheCareGap. The cancer care gap refers to the disparity in access to quality cancer care and services between different countries and income levels. There is wide variability in the availability of cancer care resources globally, with significant shortfalls in many LMICs. The cancer care gap is a significant challenge that requires concerted global efforts to address and reduce the disparities in access to cancer care and services. Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths, accounting for 18% of all cancer deaths globally. Research also indicates that almost 60% of the world's lung cancer incidence is attributed to LMICs. At Qure.ai, we're committed to bridging this care gap by leveraging #AI to make healthcare accessible and equitable. But it's through partnerships that we can truly make a difference. This World Cancer Day, let's hear from our partners on uniting to combat lung cancer. Cancer is a disease that knows no boundaries. It affects people from all walks of life, regardless of where they come from or their beliefs. Unfortunately, the fight against cancer is not a level playing field. Disparities in access to quality care and research mirror the inequalities of our world. Simply put, access to lifesaving treatments and care is a privilege, not a right. This is why a global collaboration transcending borders and uniting diverse communities for a shared purpose is crucial. The fight against cancer cannot be won in isolation. We need a united front to tackle this devastating disease. Please read and share this call to action editorial piece recently published in the Journal of Global Medicine, which highlights the need for global collaboration in the fight against cancer. Let's work together to ensure that access to quality care and research is a right, not a privilege. Lung cancer is a leading cause of death in Native American communities and is usually caught late when it is difficult to treat. Many late-stage diagnoses could have been prevented through preventative lung screening. 1 in 16 Americans die of lung cancer, but the rate for Native Americans is even higher. Screening helps find lung cancer early when treatments are more effective. Nationally, less than 6% of those eligible to be screened for lung cancer get screened, and in the Native American population, less than 2% are screened. In response to the threat lung cancer brings to the Native American population, A Breath of Hope Lung Foundation (ABOHLF) created free storytelling video resources spoken exclusively in the Native American voice. These free resources will help Native American communities educate their people about lung cancer to increase awareness and improve lung cancer screening uptake. Diagnosing lung cancer earlier will save lives. Yesterday was World Cancer Day, a global call to action to address the inequities in cancer care across the world. This year marks the culmination of a three-year campaign focused on #ClosingTheGap, ensuring everyone has access to the resources they need to prevent, diagnose, and treat cancer. The theme, "Together, we challenge those in power," emphasizes the collective responsibility we all have to hold leaders accountable for prioritizing cancer prevention and care. At NirogGyan, we believe technology plays a critical role in bridging the gap. Our patient-centric diagnostics platform empowers individuals with personalized insights, engaging information, and a direct connection to their healthcare journey. But technology alone isn't enough. We need collective action from individuals, healthcare providers, governments, and organizations like ours to dismantle systemic barriers and ensure everyone has access to quality cancer care. #WorldCancerDay #CancerAwareness #HealthEquity #NirogGyan

Today is World Cancer Day, and this year’s theme is “Close the care gap” - something close to the hearts of our rare community. Often diagnosed late, with limited treatment options, limited information and high out-of-pocket costs, we constantly see the inequities that come with a rare or less common cancer diagnosis. As our CEO, Christine Cockburn, told a Senate Inquiry last week, “right from the start, people with a rare cancer are on the back foot”. Christine told the Inquiry about the need to evolve our systems, delivery frameworks and funding mechanisms to help people diagnosed with rare and less common cancers access treatments more quickly and affordably – especially when those same medications are already approved and subsidised for people with more common cancers. It is important to us to keep ensuring rare voices are heard, sharing your stories, and advocating for policy change that makes things fair for rare. Together, we can close the care gap. #CloseTheCareGap #WorldCancerDay
