💡 Welcome to QURECA’s weekly news update!💡 ⚡ Microsoft is intensifying its focus on quantum computing by reorganising its quantum hardware team and integrating it more closely with its Azure Quantum unit. The company aims to enhance collaboration across disciplines with its open-source Azure Quantum Resource Estimator, helping benchmark solutions and accelerate development. 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞: https://lnkd.in/ese8V-z5 💥 A team of Chinese scientists, led by Duan Luming at the Institute for Interdisciplinary Information Sciences at Tsinghua University have constructed the world's largest trapped-ion quantum computer. Utilising a cryogenic monolithic ion-trap with a unique 2D trapping scheme, 512 ions were successfully trapped with single-qubit resolution across 300 ions of the total capture. This significant advancement enhances the potential for large-scale quantum computing using trapped ions. 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞: https://lnkd.in/ese8V-z5Quantinuum announced that its H-Series quantum computer now features 56 fully-connected physical qubits, claiming a departure from classical simulation capabilities while directly challenging the long sought “wiring problem” of trapped ion quantum computers, with a recent “iconic” demonstration with JPMorgan Chase & Co. with 800x lower error rates than conventional methods. The H2-1 system demonstrates enhanced quantum error-correction and superior fidelity, making it more efficient than classical supercomputers for specific tasks and heralding a new era of quantum computing. 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞: https://lnkd.in/e9krGsZN 🖥 QPerfect and QuEra Computing Inc. have announced a new collaboration whereby utilising QPerfect’s MIMIQ virtual quantum computer, the partnership aims to conduct high-fidelity, large-scale simulations to enhance QuEra’s neutral-atom quantum computers. This collaboration is supported by QAI Ventures. 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞: https://lnkd.in/g_2PzhUF 🤝 Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech and HPCNow! have announced a collaboration to enhance computational capabilities. This partnership aims to combine Qilimanjaro's quantum algorithms and hardware expertise with HPCnow's high-performance computing (HPC) solutions. The goal is to create more efficient and powerful computational systems that leverage both quantum and classical computing strengths. Correction: The 800x error reduction demonstration was done by Microsoft with Quantinuum. The recent demonstration of the collaboration with JPMorgan Chase & Co was on an astounding, new world record demonstration the H2-1 device at N=56 qubits of cross entropy benchmarking, like the "quantum supremacy" experiments done by Google, with a >100x improvement in the results. The teams also estimate a 30,000x reduction in power consumption for H2-1 when compared to running similar calculations on the world's leading supercomputers.

WOW 516 ion traps! It is the first time I hear about Chinese ion trap platform and right away this many qubit. How comes?
