With many bulk trucks, the energy discharge of a charged truck or bulk truck can reach 100 mJ. This makes correct earthing of a truck during loading crucial. The truck may already be electrically charged upon arrival at the unloading site. Hence, with a good earthing unit, the clamp should be isolated from ground, and only connect to the “earth” after the clamp is connected to the truck. This prevents a spark from forming when the clamp is attached to the truck. To earth the truck correctly, an earthing unit such as the TES01 is equipped with an interlock as standard.
