Hurricane season is in full swing. Having a mass notification system for your community helps before, during, and after storms blow through. A mass notification system can be a crucial tool during a disaster by quickly delivering critical information to affected people. Here's how it can be used: -Real-Time Alerts: Notify residents and authorities about rising water levels, evacuation orders, or shelter locations via text messages, emails, or voice calls. -Evacuation Routes: Provide updated information on the safest routes for evacuation as road conditions change due to flooding. -Safety Instructions: Share guidelines on how to stay safe during the flood, including tips like moving to higher ground, avoiding floodwaters, and ensuring that families have emergency supplies ready. -Resource Distribution: Communicate with first responders and community members about where to find resources like food, water, and medical help. -Updates on Recovery Efforts: After the initial storms, continue to update the community on cleanup efforts, returning home safely, and accessing financial or government assistance. CAPSOL’s mass notification products, such as their text alerts, would be ideal in this situation, ensuring that vital information reaches people swiftly and effectively. Give us a call today at 913-203-1110 for more information. #WeatherAlert #massnotification #hurricaneseason #Textalerts

During Emergency Preparedness Week, we reflect on the impact of historic storms like Hurricane Hazel, which devastated the Toronto region in 1954 with powerful winds and heavy rainfall. Fast forward to today, where significant rainfall can bring major floods, causing disruptions and damage to our infrastructure, as well as posing risks to public safety. While not as severe and significant as Hurricane Hazel, the 1980 flood in Port Hope reminds us of nature's power and our vulnerability to the risk of flooding. Hurricane Hazel is the Regulatory flood standard for the GRCA's watershed and is used to define floodplain areas along creeks and rivers. Let's use this time to reflect on the past and prepare for future storms.
