This story upsets me to the core. We had a team of employees relocated from Russia to Dubai to work in our store. We specifically gather guys with experience in Lifemart back in russia in order to preserve russian culture of Lifemart in Dubai. But with this team everything went completely wrong. We asked one employee to leave us on his own. The second employee from what I heard did not like the tense atmosphere in the team that I created, seeing that we were seriously disrupting the opening schedule. So she decided to leave but then for some reason she changed her mind. Over the past four months this is the second time I’ve heard about her decision to leave and stay so I bet that she won’t last long with us. Well, the third employee is a pain. The guy moved from a monotown in Sverdlovsk region, worked at Lifemart in Yekaterinburg, and then we moved him to Dubai. Young, active and promising. Until the store opening he has been helping us with the formation of the assortment, quietly, calmly and responsibly doing his job. But when he saw that the position of a senior salesperson was being vacated, he came with a proposal: “Put me in this position or I will quit.” Naturally, we did not agree to work with such an ultimatum, so we bought him a return ticket, paid his salary and bid farewell. How stupid we may act when we are young. It happens that life gives us great chances and for some reason we don’t take advantage of them, thinking that it will always be like this. Having grown up, I know that this is not true. The guy had the opportunity to get one of the most fascinating work experiences of his life, move to a rich and successful country, earn money in foreign currency, and if we get into the format and begin to actively develop in the international market, then also grow with us, work anywhere in the world, give his children the opportunity to choose which country to live and study in. But he returned home. I also once refused to go to study in the USA. I still consider myself a complete asshole for doing this. P.S.: It is important to note that all the situations I write about I know only from one side, as the guys’ managers told them to me, everything might be different.

Can you afford to be nice? If not, why on earth not? This parody photo for the not-very-nice people I have met in situations where all you have to do is at least pretend to like me, be nice, close the sale, and move on. I think people nowadays have forgotten how difficult it was in the past to land a good job in Singapore if you were not from a privileged background and highly educated. I grew up as a kid watching the door-to-door Pola cosmetic lady selling and making small talk to my Mom at home. I did think then I want to grow up to be like her one day, but I grew up and got realistic as I don't have the look. Back then Singapore is ranked third world, not many job opportunities and even worse if you are common folk looking for independent work. Fast forward to current Singapore today where jobs are a plenty for ladies and female work force participation is ranked one of the highest in the world. I think if you have the looks you can really make it big in your own space especially sales. Recently I had a terrible experience with a beauty consultant at the outlet shop of my favorite brand. I have been a loyal customer since I can afford to buy their brand of skin care. Once I am their gold member, buying without a blink of an eye a few thousand dollars a year to maintain my gold status. Today I am just a normal ranked member as their member of any rank I am still entitled to a 20% birthday discount on the birthday month. Maybe because I requested to use my birthday discount when it's not my birthday month caused the consultant unhappiness, although I am still puzzled why she cannot even be nice to be for just 10 mins to close more sales. I give the beauty consultant a scathing review for her customer service as I know the company penalises staff for bad reviews. Please if you are customer-facing and in a sales job, your job is to close sales even if I look like your dreaded mother-in-law. I wroe this post hoping to remind some, especially in customer-facing roles to please don't go to work if you are not happy. No matter how much you hate your job or your customers, many are queuing behind you for the life and job you have today. I shot this in Macau, rental of costumes and makeup was also done in Macau. check out the comments below if you are curious for more information. Have a great weekend folks and hope my look amuses you ☹🙄😬🤭🤣

Canadian Corporate Immigration - Helping companies and their people work and live in Canada, and globally through the Partners Immigration Network.
Not quite Inigo Lopez’s spectacular summer “holi-work”, but you take the perks where you can…😉 We’re getting unseasonably hot weather right now 36-37 C, which I’m okay with sitting on a surfboard, but not here in Alberta. Humid and no breeze to boot. So, we take a page from our friends in MX AND South America for a while, work early, work late, and take some time out when it’s super hot. Well hot for us anyway. Took some time out to take a couple of the kids for boba, and an icy half sweet mango slushy for me. Then back to retainers, bids, policy updates, and more follow ups. Possibility of thunderstorms this evening, which will keep me going late into the night with a bit of a cool down. So if you’re waiting on a response from me, not to worry, it’s coming tonight… According to pals Stéphane Compain and Roman Zelichenko, JD, well and Inigo for that matter, I need to use more selfies, because they get my posts 5 times the views. As Roman was telling Josh Schachnow and I, we also both have the added advantage of being “easy on the eyes”, so just do more of them. Not sure I’d go that far, but here’s me in proper Canadian summer attire, against a Barbie/Coco backdrop. I think the pink works for me no? The work we do, we take very seriously, but it doesn’t mean we need to do the same for ourselves…😉 #canada #business #immigration #globalmobility #economicdevelopment

Linda is a highly sought after international motivational speaker 3 x Cancer, Author TV Host Podcast Host Inspiring audiences worldwide!
Why did I have to get a job in a shoe store a few years after moving to Canada from the UK? Great question, and one that my audiences globally want to know. I needed the money. Plain and simple. In fact I also worked at a hotel cleaning and attempted to sell vacuums. But for the purpose of this post I want to share how working in a shoe store was not the best experience, but in later life when I started my first business Motivational Steps, it helped me in many ways. Many of the customers told me they appreciated the customer care they received when they visited the shoe store. How I was treated by the management and some of the long time staff at the shoe store was not exactly nice, but I stuck it out because I had no choice. How did I escape all 3 jobs and decide to start my own business. Today I will share how and why I decided to leave the shoe store. After my first diagnosis of breast cancer the store did not want to take me back as a part time assistant, working full time hours. They had no choice in the matter so I returned. But after my second diagnosis of breast cancer resulting in a bi-lateral mastectomy I left the shoe store and returned to school for one year. 23 years later I have two businesses, one co-founded with my husband/business partner, and I travel the world with my keynotes and consulting. So what did I take from working at the shoe store and transfer it to my own two businesses? Another great question. Always take care of the customer, offer excellent customer care, before, during and after the sale. Treat people as you would like to be treated. With courtesy and politeness and care. Loyalty follows. Last but not least, we can change our life for the better. It's not easy but it can be done, perseverance, determination and resilience. #loyalty #career #life

Partner and Board & CEO Practice APAC Lead at Mercuri Urval | Keynote Speaker | Author of "Jobhunting" | CxO Headhunter and Leadership Advisor for Industrial, Logistics, Life Science, and Technology sectors
“Location, location, location” That is the No. 1 rule in real estate! You can build a fancier, larger, and more luxurious place. But if the location is not great, you probably won’t fetch a good price. The location x3 principle is applicable in jobhunting as well. In the last ten years, I was treated by two chiropractors who have practiced in Ontario, Canada. In Ontario, there are 5,000 chiropractors for a population of 15 million, i.e. one chiropractor for every 3,000 people. In Singapore, there are 150 chiropractors for a population of 5.6 million, which is about one chiropractor to 37,000 people. If you are a chiropractor, you will be in much higher demand if you are in Singapore. There is 10 times less competition for your service. Of course, it is with the assumption that the understanding and acceptance of chiropractic treatment are similar in both locations. In most situations, supply and demand play a big part in the salaries of the job. In Singapore, tech jobs are always in high demand. Good salespeople and general managers are always sought after as well. Job demands are different in every city. It depends on how large is the demand in the specific location. What is the demand for your job in your current location today? Is it time for you to move to another location? #jobhunting Blog: https://lnkd.in/gcDrdq8T
