#research_news #mentalhealth #helpers #psychologicalsupport #StandWithUkraine After the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the problem of the population's mental health became acute. However, it is not only those seeking psychological support who need help, but also the helpers themselves. KNU scientists conducted a survey of 450 representatives of doctors, psychologists, teachers, social workers and volunteers, and the results are impressive: more than forty percent of the helpers have suffered direct attacks of moderate violence 1-2 times a week since the beginning of the war. The researchers also looked at the impact on the mental health of aid workers and their coping mechanisms. The research part of the project therefore aims to develop ways of providing psychosocial support to aid workers through staff and volunteer initiatives. The project is implemented under the Unified Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM2027) programme. Its implementation period is 2023-2024. Project partners: The University of Innsbruck (Austria), Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (Ukraine), Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University and Ilia State University in Tbilisi (Georgia), Austrian Red Cross, Georgian Red Cross and Armenian Red Cross.
