Geotechnical engineering is a branch of civil engineering concerned with the engineering behavior of soil and earth materials, as it is concerned with studying the ground that forms the main engineering foundations under structures, in order to know the bearing capacity of the soil in all climatic and environmental conditions. In addition to determining its properties and classification, the purpose of the geotechnical study is to determine the internal conditions of the soil. Studying the soil helps engineers know the extent to which the soil needs reinforcement, and the type of necessary reinforcement it needs in designing the structures and foundations that will be supported by the soil. Geotechnical engineering is considered one of the most important fields of work in civil engineering, and it has an important role in constructing buildings and ensuring their long-term stability, as it is the cornerstone on which engineers successfully build their designs and decisions. #geotechnicalengineering #civilengineering
