Hello connections.... Motorcycle designs vary greatly to suit a range of different purposes: long-distance travel, commuting, cruising, sport (including racing), and off-road riding. Motorcycling is riding a motorcycle and being involved in other related social activities such as joining a motorcycle club and attending motorcycle rallies. The 1885 Daimler Reitwagen made by Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach in Germany was the first internal combustion, petroleum-fueled motorcycle. In 1894, Hildebrand & Wolfmüller became the first series production motorcycle.[4][5] Globally, motorcycles are comparable numerically to cars as a method of transport: in 2021, approximately 58.6 million new motorcycles were sold around the world,[6] while 66.7 million cars were sold over the same period.[7] In 2022, the top four motorcycle producers by volume and type were Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, and Suzuki.[8] In developing countries, motorcycles are considered utilitarian due to lower prices and greater fuel economy. Of all the motorcycles in the world, 58% are in the Asia-Pacific and Southern and Eastern Asia regions, excluding car-centric Japan.[citation needed] According to the US Department of Transportation, the number of fatalities per vehicle mile traveled was 37 times higher for motorcycles than for cars.[9 #snsinstitutions #snsdesignthinking #designthinkers

With the pending launch of the Can-Am electric street bikes, this patent drawing show the possibility of a successor to the TnT motocrosser. Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP) has been publicly showing its proposed lineup of electric motorcycles for years, but this patent filing hints at a return to the off-road motorcycle arena where the Can-Am brand made its mark. Existing from 1972 until 1983, Can-Am motorcycles quickly established themselves as high performance, high quality products during the motorcycle sales boom of that era. The star of the Can-Am lineup was the TnT, which won many championship races. Unlike most contemporary motocross and dual sports models from specialist brands from Europe like Maico, Husqvarna or GasGas, the Bombardier vehicles were reliable as well as fast, featuring robust design and an ample dealer network (thanks to the Bombardier snowmobile trade), making it a superior ownership experience. The collapse of the US motorcycle market at the end of the 1970s, combined with superior products from Japan at lower prices spelt the end of the Can-Am brand until it was resurrected in 2007 as the road going Spyder tricycle. BRP markets itself internally as a premium power sports brand, but the Spyder has never been accepted by the mainstream motorcycle community in that vein. Sales of Spyder have been good but the majority of customers are conquests from other recreational areas, not traditional motorcyclists, particularly outside of North America. With the forthcoming electric motorcycles BRP will face the same criticisms and challenges as others in the on-road electric motorcycle space: high price, low range. With the demonstrated success of Stark Future, Surron and it's many imitators off-road, will a new line of electric TnT dual sports hit the mark? #brp #canam #ev #motorcycle #electricmotorcycle #motorcycleindustry #productplanning #powersports BRP-Rotax SURRON USA DIAN Motors (Surron Canada) Surron Australia Stark Future SL Zero Motorcycles Inc.
