Governments around the world are expected to tender at least 102 GW of renewable energy capacity in 2024 after auctioning 137 GW in 2023, according to Wood Mackenzie’s latest analysis. The research firm says in its report that more than 60 GW of offshore wind will be tendered this year and that, as the year progresses, the overall volume could even match 2023 levels. Today's blog summarises the predictions for the tender of renewable energy in 2024. Solar energy is the most abundant renewable resource, with the potential to generate more energy in one hour than the world consumes in a year!☀️ The issue comes when we do not have the technical capability to harvest the massive output of energy. Should we be focusing more resources on trying to harness this energy rather than other forms of renewables which are less abundant & reliant on proper conditions? #SolarPower #RenewableEnergy #NetZero

According to the Irish Solar Energy Association (ISEA), solar has been growing remarkably in Ireland, easing nationwide dependence on #fossilfuels. 🇮🇪 As of 2023, the Emerald Isle's burgeoning #solar capacity is delivering 600,000 megawatt hours of electricity per year, saving ~202,000 tons of carbon annually. Paired with a national uptake of #windEnergy, conditions are perfect for an Irish #cleanenergy revolution. 🍀 After all, solar complements wind terrifically in Ireland: when one is at a high level of generation, the other is usually low, and vice versa. We can't wait to see how the Irish continue to lead in renewable energy. Happy Saint Patrick's Day! #AuroraSolar📍Dublin, Ireland

Is the UK on track to hit solar power targets? Meeting net zero targets requires renewables to contribute 90% of the UK’s power, aiming for 150GW of renewable energy. Solar is targeted to achieve 70GW by 2035 but faces a sizable gap from the current capacity of 14GW. Key areas for improvement include reviewing solar farm planning processes and increasing solar efficiency. A challenge, but certainly achievable! #NetZero #Sustainability #RenewableEnergy
