⁉️DevOps, SRE & Platform Engineers are not receiving feedback when they are applying online⁉️ EVERY Engineer that I have spoken to this year has multiple stories about applying to open positions online and NEVER hearing back😤 Did this make them want to work for this organisation in the future?❌ Did it damage their experience and confidence?✅ HOWEVER, the main thing I would say to you, DO NOT TAKE IT PERSONALLY🙏 I can assure you it is far more likely to be one of these factors⬇️ ☁️Organisations do not get in touch with everyone that applies due to lack of time📞 ☁️A shortlist has been made from other applications before your profile had the chance to be viewed😑 ☁️A referral or someone in the managers network has been preferred🧑🤝👩 ☁️Some adverts are running just to see what talent is available (I do not know who condones this)😒 ☁️Not every application will be reviewed😥 ☁️The role may never be filled due to internal changes🤯 If you would like to understand how to reduce the risk of applying to lots of positions and not getting any response; and develop ways to gain more responses drop me a message📲 #tethr #applications #devops #sre #platform

Lately, I've had numerous discussions with hiring managers, and they're grappling with a significant challenge: finding the right candidates for crucial roles ('DevOps', Platform, SRE, DX). 🤯 But wait, there's more! 📊 After analysing the data, I've had conversations with 188 individuals over the past three months on this very issue. Here's the breakdown: 👉 136 of them were looking to fill positions, some of which had been vacant for over 3 months, and a surprising 19% had been open for 6+ months! 😱 In a few cases, hiring teams went through a staggering 600 resumes, interviewed only 5%, and just 3 candidates progressed to the second stage, with none receiving offers. 😮 The most revealing aspect? 🕵️♂️ Over 90% of these hiring managers either used or had access to external assistance. However, many encountered challenges with agencies that claimed expertise in everything but fell short in the DevOps community. 🤔 Starting searches from scratch and not prioritising roles were common issues. As someone deeply involved in the 'DevOps' community, it's disheartening to see many talented individuals seeking roles while the hiring puzzle remains unsolved.
