Her Farm Her Story: Empowering Women Farmers with Digital Precision Farming 🌾 📢 Did You Know? That women make up nearly 50% of the agricultural workforce in Africa, yet they own less than 20% of the land? This disparity stems from limited access to resources, financial instability, and gender-based barriers that hinder their potential. We’re proud to have trained over 27,116 women in digital precision farming practices, with all of them now registered in our farm management system! 💻🌱 By equipping these women with essential digital skills, we’re helping them: ✔ Increase their productivity through modern farming techniques. ✔ Access digital markets for better income opportunities. ✔ Build sustainable livelihoods by leveraging technology. Helping farmers thrive and prosper is my “why” for working in sustainability- so today, I am excited to announce Syngenta’s launch of four new sustainability priorities – renewing our company’s commitment to nurturing the planet and growers.  Our strategies to 1) drive higher yields with lower impact on the environment, 2) regenerate soil and nature, 3) improve rural prosperity, and 4) reduce emissions from our operations are all essential for success. But close to my heart and as co-lead for Syngenta’s women’s Business Resource Group, I am especially excited about “improving rural prosperity” and the opportunities it will bring to empower and improve the lives of the growing number of farmers and farm owners (up to 30% by some accounts) in the US that are women.    Gender disparities in agriculture are real. I look forward to building programs to help address those disparities. Exciting times for women in aquaculture! 🌊 The aquaculture industry is seeing a powerful shift, with more women stepping into leadership roles. In 2022, 25% of aquaculture employees were women, compared to 21% in 2020—up 4 points in only 2 years! We attended the 2024 United States Trout Farmers Association conference. It was incredible to see the next generation of women in aquaculture. Did you know that half of the board of directors, including the President, are women? This exciting progress is a testament to the increasing influence and innovation women are bringing to this sector. At Knip, we’re proud to be part of this transformation. As a women-led company, we’re dedicated to fostering inclusion, supporting the growth of women in aquaculture, and ensuring that diverse perspectives drive the future of sustainable aquaculture. This is the best time to get into farming, or you’ll regret it because……  “UN Says 2026 is the Year of the Woman Farmer!” 😲👌 Hey everyone, The United Nations decided that 2026 will be all about celebrating women who farm.  How awesome is that? 🎉 The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) led the charge on this, with support from lots of other countries. It's a huge deal because it recognizes how important women are in growing food all around the world. Like Deputy Secretary ‘Torres Small’ said, "Women are super important in farming, from the fields to the boardrooms." 💪   This special year will help highlight the challenges women farmers face and push for fair treatment and more opportunities.   Did you know that women grow about half of all the food we eat❓🤯   But sometimes they don't get the same chances as men, like owning land or getting loans. The Year of the Woman Farmer aims to change that and make sure everyone has a fair shot. So if you love farming, and you want to be a farmer, and you’ve never taken that decision, then this is the right time for you to take the decision, since international countries are also supporting it. Even though 2026 might seem far away, we're getting ready now.
