Really enjoyed listening to David Coultard on the mindset and behaviours of Formula 1 teams. And also how the plane crash David survived made him drop a lot of baggage he was carrying at the time. Some of the key takeaways for me were. 🚦Everything is about the team, while the drivers might get the spotlight, it’s all about the team, the drivers know this and are incredibly appreciative of the team. 🚦The teams operate with a no blame culture. The focus is always on how can they get better to win the next race. 🚦Even after wining a race, they immediately go into reviews to see what could be done better for the next race, there is a relentless culture for improvement. 🚦Christian Horner of Red Bull is very focused on the team, and putting the right people in the right places. 🚦Red Bull are not interested in lengthy reports, they are only interested in actions, and actions that would make them better for the next race. 🚦It’s all about the people you surround yourself with, surround yourself with great people. At personal level he sees time as time as his friend, and believes there is plenty of time available to get what you need done. And finally, he believes “Everything matters” as in the saying, how you do anything, is how you do everything. I’m sure I’m not doing David justice here as there were so many great takeaways from someone who has achieved an incredible amount in his life to date. Overall a very enjoyable day at the Scale X event in Belfast during the week with a lot of great takeaways from a lot great speakers. #scaleX #improvement #healthandsafety

How robust is your crisis management and emergency response system?

Liberty Media Total Formula 1 Revenue Q12017-Q32024. This image highlights the consistent growth in Formula 1's revenue streams while also illustrating the sharp decline during the first two quarters of 2020. Notably, in Q4 2023, revenues surpassed $1.2 billion for the first time, driven by the success of the Las Vegas Grand Prix. Looking ahead, Formula 1 is likely to see another billion-dollar milestone in 2024, with the upcoming Las Vegas GP expected to play a major role in driving revenues further.

Is Formula 1 the biggest sport in the world, commercially? With the 24 races, 10 teams and 20 drivers, sharing over 150 partners it would be hard to argue against "yes" to the above question. It would also be hard to argue that the takeover of F1 by Liberty Media and the following "Drive to Survive" series on Netflix hasn't contributed to the commercial growth in the sport over the last 5-7 years, that has been supercharged by the growth in the US The CNBC video below provides a great insight into the commercial landscape of Formula 1 and thought process behind a number of teams on what they look for in a partner but also, the importance of a solid activation plan once the rights have been secured. I think James Vowles said it best, "I'm not looking for sponsors, I'm looking for partners", and there is a subtle, but significant different between the perception of those two words. Formula 1 𝗣𝗶𝘁 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗽𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝟭𝟵𝟵𝟬 𝘃𝘀 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟯 This video shows the speed at which pit stops in Formula 1 have increased over the last 30 years. Some of this speed is down to new technology, but there has also been much more emphasis on training and preparation, which many of the F1 teams talk about. For example, Dr Rahul Chotai of Aston Martin F1 Team spoke about his role within the team: "𝑀𝑦 𝑤𝑜𝑟𝑘 𝑤𝑖𝑙𝑙 𝑛𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑟 𝑑𝑖𝑟𝑒𝑐𝑡𝑙𝑦 𝑖𝑚𝑝𝑎𝑐𝑡 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑐𝑎𝑟, 𝑏𝑢𝑡 𝑖𝑡 𝑤𝑖𝑙𝑙 ℎ𝑒𝑙𝑝 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑡𝑒𝑎𝑚 𝑝𝑒𝑟𝑓𝑜𝑟𝑚 𝑡𝑜 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑏𝑒𝑠𝑡 𝑜𝑓 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑖𝑟 𝑎𝑏𝑖𝑙𝑖𝑡𝑦." Pit crews are now offered support (and rightly so) akin to professional athletes around diet and nutrition, psychological support, position-specific strength and conditioning, and even advice on combatting jet-lag. I think lots of teams in and out of sports could learn so much about how formula crews prepare for and operate as a team under high levels of pressure and how this can drive both performance and well-being.

The front wing of a Formula One car is referred to as “bodywork around the front wheels” or the “front bodywork” in the FIA rules. However, for how the FORMULA 1 front wing works or helps the performance of the car, the term “front wing” will do just fine for now.
