🪄🎙️ The domino effect of the #AIAct pressing ahead: we get a lot of guidance in a matter of days from the data protection regulators. 🇪🇺Yesterday, it was the European Data Protection Board ➡️https://lnkd.in/dnG5kXMc 🇮🇪 Today, it is the Data Protection Commission of Ireland on “AI, Large Language Models and Data Protection” ➡️ https://lnkd.in/d8rh7Fja After much engagement, the DPC has issued its first official guidance on the interplay between data protection and AI 🤖. The guidance / blog includes explainers about LLMs and, most importantly, the associated data protection risks and considerations. A key section that sticks out: “…whether you are an individual or an organisation, from the very beginning you might need to be aware of what you are using, how you interact with it and what the consequences are, regardless of the useful or creative results you may get from doing so. Where personal data is involved, GDPR and data protection regulations come in to play, for individuals and organisations using AI systems, as well as for the model/product providers.” This guidance is for users and all operators involved in AI systems. More updates from our team at WILLIAM FRY LLP to follow.
