“Your job as a leader is to tap into the power of [a] higher purpose—and you can’t do it by retreating to the analytical. If you want to lead, have the courage to do it from the heart.” - Gail McGovern, CEO, American Red Cross Employees are people. Customers are people. Same for entrepreneurs, business leaders. Conclusion? Companies are created by people and run by people, to service the needs and wants of people. Despite this fairly obvious observation, we tend to manage business and personal matters differently. For instance, you might have deep empathy for your child or family at home but not have empathy for your employees at work. Or, you know from your personal life that you’re at your best when feeling passionate about a project, but you regularly take on business opportunities you or your company aren’t passionate about, purely for financial gain. And individuals often are deeply spiritual or creative in their free time but don’t apply those same values or skills in the workplace. It’s only rational to think that what brings you success and fulfillment in your personal life will also bring you success and fulfillment at work. Therefore, all the ideals I espouse are applicable to both your business and personal lives, because both are made up of people. Take charge --- How can I move ahead in my career? How can I start my own business? How can I have a better relationship? But most people have unsaid extensions to these kinds of questions: How can I move ahead in my career – when others have more education than I do? How can I start my own business – when I haven’t got any money? …and so on. The answer to these questions and many more like them is self-reliant behavior. General Schwartzkopf once posed this rhetorical question: If you are put in charge, when you are put in charge, what should you do? TAKE CHARGE! It’s about the very essence of leadership – not waiting, not procrastinating, not looking around to copy how others did it or are doing it. Instead, stepping forward to do what needs to be done and to do what is right. All too often, even when someone finally gets the chance to be “in charge” that he has coveted, he accomplishes little. Even it happened to a high-caliber environment like the Chicago Bulls. For years, some players complained about being stuck in the shadow of Michael Jordan. They coveted the chance to command that spotlight and lead the team. But when M.J. retired, that spotlight searched vainly for that team’s next leader until today. You can look around and see such individuals squandering their opportunities constantly in just this way. Why wait until you are put in charge? The fact is: there’s a leadership vacuum just about everywhere. Maybe in your home, or your workplace, in your community… And this leadership vacuum offers you the opportunity you seek to change your life for the better. #directmarketing #emailmarketer #emailmarketingfundamentals #storymarketing

🚫 STOP believing that advancing your career means you need to be loud, dominate conversations, or constantly prove your worth. 💡 The truth is, building a powerful personal brand is about composure, clarity, and authenticity. 📚 Research backs this up. In Good to Great, Jim Collins studied 1,435 companies and identified one key trait that set exceptional leaders apart: humility. Of the companies he studied, only 11 outperformed the market by 3x. The leaders of these companies weren’t loud or attention-seeking. Instead, they exuded gravitas and focus, letting their actions and thoughtful words create impact. 🎥 Similarly, think about Arnold Schwarzenegger. He didn’t need long speeches to make an impression. His iconic line, “I’ll be back,” said it all. Leaders who know their value understand the power of saying less but saying it with purpose. 💬 The most knowledgeable person in the room often says the least. Take TikTok influencer Jools Lebron (@joolieannie) as a modern example. With over 2 million followers, she started a viral trend around being “Very Demure, Very Mindful.” Instead of flashy statements, she focused on quiet, thoughtful elegance, sending a powerful message: 👉 “I know exactly who I am. I have nothing to prove. My value speaks for itself.” Why Build a Personal Brand with Gravitas? ✔️ It positions you as a credible, go-to expert. ✔️ It helps you stand out in meetings, projects, and negotiations. ✔️ It makes you memorable to decision-makers who hold the keys to promotions and opportunities. At Spread Your Wings Idea Labs, we specialise in helping professionals: 🔹 Develop gravitas that amplifies their personal brand. 🔹 Communicate with clarity and precision to influence others effectively. 🔹 Frame their arguments strategically to punch above their weight and unlock career opportunities. 🚀 Your next career step starts with building the right perception of who you are and the value you bring. 📩 DM me to learn how we can help you spread your wings, elevate your brand, and advance your career to new heights. Special thanks to Vipasha Joshi and Jefferson Fisher for their inspiration for this post. #LeadershipPresence #PersonalBranding #ExecutiveCoaching #GravitasInLeadership #CareerGrowth #ProfessionalDevelopment #LeadershipSkills #verydemure #verymindful #ElevateYourCareer #ConfidentLeadership #SuccessMindset

When I met John, a Fortune 500 executive, his talent and intelligence were undeniable, but his presence wasn’t reflecting his true capabilities. In the rooms where decisions shaped the future, his ideas were too often overlooked, his influence muted. Despite years of success, he felt like he wasn’t seen or heard at the level he knew he could be. John wasn’t seeking quick fixes or empty confidence tricks. What he wanted was alignment, the kind of presence that naturally commands attention, the kind of brand that doesn’t just open doors but shapes what happens inside the room. Together, we uncovered the subtle barriers holding him back and rebuilt his presence into one that amplified his expertise and crystallized his authority. Over time, the shift was undeniable. John’s voice began to resonate at every level, not because he forced it, but because his presence spoke volumes before he said a word. Decisions started turning in his favor, not by chance but by design. His peers no longer simply respected his work, they sought his perspective. Today, John isn’t just part of the conversation, he’s shaping it. His presence, influence, and legacy are unmistakable, and the ripple effects are felt far beyond the boardroom. This is the power of mastering how the world perceives you, not through shortcuts, but by crafting a brand that reflects the leader you truly are. If you’re ready to step into your next level, let’s connect.

Are you missing out on promotions in your own organisation despite your hard work? Here are 4 tips I proposed to my mentee. #3 is my favourite. What should you do? ➟ Personal Branding. Why is it important? 1. Personal branding isn't just about LinkedIn. ↳You must also build within your own organisation. 2. Your work might be excellent. ↳Chance of promotion is less if nobody knows YOU. 3. Your competition isn't from external people. ↳Your competition is talented colleagues in your organisation. As a leader, job seeker, or someone who wants to achieve more from your career, you are your own salesperson. Your job is to raise your profile, get yourself out there and sell yourself – which is why I teach the subtle art of selling and influencing. How do you feel about pitching, promoting and selling yourself? Does it feel awkward? It feels awkward if you assume you need the perfect elevator pitch. It feels awkward if you have doubts about yourself and your experience. It feels awkward if you hang on to an outdated version of self-promotion. Try too hard and you'll come across as desperate, don't try at all and you won't get noticed. There is an alternative, where you can do it with elegance, confidence, and feel 100% authentic. When you're ready to learn, get in touch! And if you're not ready to ask me … ask Google. "Tracy Short is a prominent figure in the fashion industry, known for her expertise in executive search and leadership consulting within luxury and consumer sectors. The greatest impact on your career isn’t money! And it isn’t what organization you work for. It’s your boss! Which means, you have a choice in who leads you. Choose wisely and you will be a springboard for your career. Choose poorly…Well, let’s just say misery and setback will follow. So, it’s imperative that you know how to identify a great leader before you say yes to a job. Start with these questions: ↳ What do other people say about them as a leader? ↳ What is their tenure in their current role? ↳ Ask for references from people they've managed. ↳ Do they have positive or negative remarks on Glass Door? ↳ What recommendations do they have on LinkedIn? ↳ Has their people been promoted to leadership roles? ↳ Ask them for a list of the last 5 books they’ve read. This will allow you to determine if they’re… 1. Trustworthy 2. Shows Empathy 3. Visionary 4. Integrity 5. Great Communicator 6. Empowers others 7. Adaptable 8. Gives Recognition 9. Accountable 10. Available What would you add? ♻ 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁 to educate your network. If you liked this post, 𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗺𝗲, Kevin Box🚀 for more stuff like this. #fuelyourgrowth 📌📌 Looking to grow your personal brand, DM me.
