Even with the latest full-room radiation-blocking technology in place, situations can arise that reveal the unique value of wearable protection. In cardiology, emergency complications can develop quickly, and the attending physician must have immediate patient access, possibly even a full hands-on resuscitation. In these cases, any protective radiation barrier will be pushed aside. Only the doctors’ wearable protection will remain if they are wearing it. #Physicians can maintain workflow efficiency with a setup that takes seconds and one-button operation, retraction, and deployment. #Radiaction can #BlockRadiationAtTheSource, allowing immediate access to patients while benefiting from advanced radiation protection. #LightenTheLoad Learn More >> https://loom.ly/klmtKCE #RadiactionMedical #medicaldevices #medtech #radiationsafety #nurses #technologists #hospitals #cathlab #vascularsurgery #cardiology #interventionalcardiology

MRI safety week (July 22 - 26): MRI safety involves the modality, roles of MRI technologists, safety zones and best practices by all involved health care personnel. https://lnkd.in/eUCHpb6Z An MRI scanner is composed of four major components: main magnet, gradient coils, RF coils and computer system, all of which pose risks to patient and operator safety. The main magnet is associated with projectiles. The gradient coils are loud and can cause peripheral nerve stimulation. The RF coils can cause burns and re-program some implanted devices. An ideal MRI examination balances scan time and image quality. This balance can be positively affected by new hardware, new sequences and optimized sequence parameters.

https://lnkd.in/d4XR5wgg For every patient, the MR safety evaluation should include the assessment of risks in three key areas, each corresponding to a specific hazard posed by the electromagnetic fields generated by the MR scanner: ferromagnetic attraction and displacement by the static field; stimulation, acoustic noise, and device interaction by the gradient fields; and bulk and focal heating by the radiofrequency field.

A beautiful 2D DSA post Internal Carotid Artery (ICA) Stenting on a Philips Azurion 3 👌🏻 The ICA is a major artery that supplies many parts of the Head & Neck notably the brain ! By dividing into Anterior and Middle Cerebral arteries and Anterior Choroidal Artery (important for vision). Any area of stenosis along its course can lead to severe damage and serious complications , some of them might be irreversible ! Hence comes the crucial role of diagnosing and stenting using angiogrpahy to maintain uniterrupted blood flow to these vital regions. And here is also why a reliable Cath lab system and a good quality image along with dedicated advanced tools in different interventional domains are crucial for accurate patient management to contribute in saving billions of lives around the globe.

☢ Over 90% of Interventional Cardiologists, Interventional Radiologists, and Electrophysicists report worrying about radiation exposure. 🧠 Research shows that long-term occupational exposure to ionizing radiation among medical providers include significantly reduced left hemisphere capacities like verbal long-term memory and verbal fluency. 🛡 Protecting those above-the-table vertical gaps that expose operators' heads and upper bodies is extremely important. 🌟 Steradian Shield™ offers that much-needed vertical protection to physicians, nurses, and techs who work in fluoroscopy suites and hybrid operating rooms. 🔗 Link to the Radux website in the comments below. #InterventionalCardiology #InterventionalRadiology #Electrophysiology #RadiationProtection #CardiacCathLab #CathLab

#SRECases: An ultrasound technologist and radiologist in Sault Ste. Marie was negligent in their duties, conducting a substandard ultrasound that failed to detect a severe defect. As a result, the baby was born with a debilitating open neural tube defect. The initial ultrasound at ten weeks in Oshawa failed to capture essential images of the baby's spine and brain, leading to a critical condition being discovered only after birth due to inadequate image quality and inaccurate annotations in subsequent ultrasounds. Early detection might have facilitated timely medical intervention for the open neural tube defect. However, the child now requires ongoing medical care and uses a wheelchair for mobility.
