I recently read "My Life and Work" by Henry Ford. Probably the best book I've read this year, aside from my beloved repeat Atlas, though Francisco's money speech could easily have been based on it. IYKYK, so I digress... Along with some of my favorite shareable quotes, there is also an interesting glimpse into his evaluation of the potential for electric vehicles, which considering the time, is altogether quite insightful. Hopefully these inspire you as you celebrate Labor Day today: ·The moment one gets into the "expert" state of mind a great number of things become impossible. I refuse to recognize that there are impossibilities. I cannot discover that anyone knows enough about anything on this earth definitely to say what is and what is not possible. ·The natural thing to do is to work—to recognize that prosperity and happiness can be obtained only through honest effort. ·Now a business, in my way of thinking, is not a machine. It is a collection of people who are brought together to do work and not to write letters to one another. ·Be not bound by the present, but leave nothing to luck. ·A man ought to be able to live on a scale commensurate with the service that he renders. ·Put brains into the method, and more brains, and still more brains—do things better than ever before; and by this means all parties to business are served and benefited. ·There is no disgrace in honest failure; there is disgrace in fearing to fail.

🇺🇸 Happy Labor Day 🛠️ For me, Labor Day is not simply a Monday off. As a proud member of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society (SDC), Labor Day is a day of celebration of the labor unions that protect workers. SDC tirelessly fights for professional stage directors and choreographers across the United States. Any member of SDC will tell you just how lucky we are to have such an incredible staff at our Union, and I want to take a moment to recognize the immense effort of our staff. I am so grateful to know that behind every contract that I file is a team of folks that will ensure my work is honored, valued, and protected. In a rapidly and drastically changing environment for the theatre industry, let alone the entertainment industry at large, now more than ever it is important to recognize the monumental value of labor unions. When united, we have a collective voice more powerful than any one company. Labor unions create a vast community of like-professionals, fostering and empowering the exchange of ideas and information. Most importantly, unions protect the dignity of their membership, fighting for the rights, health and livelihoods of the laborers. It's okay to enjoy the day off, enjoy a sale, or attend a final summer barbecue. However, we shouldn't forget why we have this day off. Fellow and sister union members, let's remember each other, and let's remember our various union staffs. Let's take a moment this Labor Day to celebrate the efforts of labor unions across the country. #LaborDay #UnionStrong #LaborUnions

Wishing all a safe and Happy Labor Day!!! 📰 Here are five interesting facts about Labor Day: 🔴 Origins: Labor Day was established by the labor movement in the late 19th century and became a federal holiday in 1894. It honors the contributions and achievements of American workers. 🔵 First Celebration: The first Labor Day parade took place on September 5, 1882, in New York City, with about 10,000 workers marching from City Hall to Union Square. ⚪ Federal Holiday: President Grover Cleveland signed an act in 1894 making Labor Day a federal holiday, partly in response to the Pullman Strike, a nationwide railroad strike that turned violent. 🔴 End of Summer: For many Americans, Labor Day marks the unofficial end of summer and is often celebrated with parties, parades, and athletic events. ⚪ Fashion Rule: There’s an old tradition that you shouldn’t wear white after Labor Day, dating back to the late Victorian era when it was considered a fashion faux pas to wear white clothing after summer ended. #happylaborday2024
