Once you visualize risk, it's hard to ignore it. Digital models and data analysis can predict environmental impacts. Identify vulnerable areas, and test adaptation measures before it’s too late. Such knowledge plays a crucial role in risk management & raising awareness. ~ Recently, we had the opportunity to support PLACE. Which, in cooperation with the Tuvalu Government, is documenting, modeling, and simulating the risks and impacts of rising sea levels. Tuvalu, a low-lying coral atoll nation, faces an existential threat. This small country proactively fights back with various mapping initiatives. To catalog and monitor it's most precious assets; land. In early 2024, PLACE and the Tuvaluan Government rapidly gathered new drone data for Funafuti, advancing their climate resilience efforts. DSM, True-Orthophoto and Reality Mapping 3D mesh models inriched their GIS database. Great work people, that's a great data set! Once the ice finally melts on this plane & she enters the next phase the sea's are expected to rise by +-200m, that's your data set model so sadly Tuvaluan at 5m above sea level will eventually succumb to nature as will most coastal area's.....
And we can scale it enough so that we cover huge areas of land Arkadiusz. So the whole country can actually create strategies.
