For all the fans of Liu Cixin's Three-Body Problem TV series, here's some exciting news! Someone has already made the sequel 'Dark Forest' as a CGI film! It's been posted on China's Youtube equivalent, Bilibili, since June 23rd and is blowing up. . . Even more crazy is that it was entirely self-produced by an amateur animator without any external investment. Read more here and see the film at https://lnkd.in/guqrfZDk #Threebodyproblem #LiuCixin #scifi #DarkForest

I find it incredibly frustrating how people still label #animation as a genre. It’s a technique used to make movies. A format. An art form. A perfect example of said labelling is the following statement: —— There’s simply nothing to see. If you aren’t interested in superhero movies or animated films, then your only choice is movies with minuscule budgets, often depressing even when they’re exceptional. —— It’s framing animation as a genre, and therefore limiting in what it has to offer… From #WaltzWithBashir and #TheWindRises to #AngryBirds and #TheSeaBeast - and most recently #BlueEyeSamurai - every single animated title I’ve had the pleasure of working on is completely unique. The full article can be found here [https://lnkd.in/e4nZ58EA] and is actually about the rumoured #WarnerDiscovery #Paramount merger talks, but regardless of this, I think we all need to show #Animated movies more respect.

10 years ago: My animation premiered at Bath Film Festival. 📽️ How did it feel? 🤩 What did I learn? 🫨 It had been 4 years in the making... for 4 minutes of film. 'Missing Dad' opened for the feature length 'Pelo Malo' in Nov 2014. This moment before was one of the most terrifying and exciting moments. Until now, the short had only been seen by a small group of family and friends. No one in this audience knows me, so all reactions will be genuine. Curtains open. Film plays. 🎭 Will they laugh in all the right places? 😂 Will they feel sad for the little red square, Jake? 🥹 Will they yawn? 🥱 It's... a mixture. 🧐 Firstly, that feeling of hearing someone you don't know laugh *with* something you've spent years making is the most heartwarming feeling. 🤗 But... there's times where the audience doesn't react how I expected. They don't react to some jokes, 😶 cough over important parts, 🤧 or get restless when the narrative slows down. 🫥 Seeing this 👆 in-person stayed with me when I analyse video retention now. You can't control how your audience reacts to your film, video or content, especially if they're seeing it in a group. 👥 Unless you're designing the environment (like we did at Stagestruck), you can't control where they consume it in either. 🤳 But, you can learn from what worked ✅ and what didn't. ❌ (This is a big reason why I moved to 2D animation - tests can take days/weeks instead of years.) 📆 So what did I take away from the Bath Film Festival 2014? 🤔 1️⃣ Put your work out there. 💥 2️⃣ Feel. 🥹 3️⃣ Learn. 🧐 4️⃣ Repeat. 🔁

Results-oriented executive with +15 years of international experience, committed to adding value & fostering growth in diverse settings.
Great movies are about the story behind them, taking us to explore the world from different perspectives. I just watched “Robot Dreams” (2023), a fantastic animation film that tells a compelling story about friendship, separation, and self-discovery. If you have the chance to watch it, don’t miss it!! "Robot Dreams" is a testament to the power of a film to connect with the audience and inspire. There are three main reasons to watch this movie: 1. Explores Universal Emotions: The film delves into themes of loyalty, hope, and personal growth, presenting a resonant narrative. 2. Fosters Empathy: The main characters' journeys immerse us in their emotions. During the film, you can relate and connect with them. The movie makes a point about the importance of understanding our feelings and those of others. 3. Encourages Reflection: From beginning to end, this film invites us to think about our relationships and how we can grow and improve. I invite you to watch it and reflect on how movies can enrich our understanding of the world and ourselves. #Cinema #RobotDreams #Animation
